Morning playdate.
Month: May 2023
I definitely didn’t know Little League was going to be multiple nights a week when we signed up. I was thinking more like 1 time slot a week, similar to soccer. The schedule is twice a week – Monday, Wednesday, Saturday (but only two of those days). Thankfully the games move quickly and so far Ben is enjoying the practice. His coaches seem to have quite a bit of patience – thank goodness!
Alex decided he was bored this afternoon and wanted to cook. He went through the Raddish recipes and decided to make the Cinnamon Star Bread. He did an excellent job and we all enjoyed the treat.
We had Teague at school bright and early this morning – 7:15 am. He was packed and ready for a week at Nature’s Classroom. He, his classmates, and his teachers are spending a week in New Hampshire doing all kinds of fun things. I won’t hear from him till Friday, but I’m hoping to see him in pictures the teachers send.
Lately, everyone has been bringing their favorite lovey/blanket to breakfast.
Kaitlyn hasn’t played a soccer game in several weeks – first an off week, then a couple rain outs. Today they were playing makeup game and it was obvious all the girls were ready to play. Kaitlyn scored a goal in the second half and then she was on fire! Fairly quickly she scored a second goal! I love to see her so proud of herself.
Ben is always a little crazy at church. He does fairly well sitting with us during the service. Sometimes he wants to go down to the nursery after the Children’s message and sometimes he is content with all the fun items I have in my bag of tricks. Recently he decided it is his job to sign the entire family in the pew register, but that only takes a few minutes.
Today, he made himself well known to the entire church (again). The youth director had all the children up front and was giving the children’s message. She started by talking about macaroni and cheese. She pointed out if you want to cook it, the directions are on the back. She had a few other similar examples of where you find directions. Then she asked the question, “What do you need to do if you want to go to Heaven?” Ben immediately piped up (loudly), “You die.”
The entire church burst out laughing. He was of course completely correct and is still a little too young to say things entirely for humor’s sake. Looking back, the youth director probably should have worded that question a little differently, but her children’s message won’t be soon forgotten thanks to Ben.
Sunday lineup.
This is Alex’s preferred method of toasting bread – especially for sandwhiches.
Teague decided to make cinnamon donut holes this morning – everybody’s favorite.
Saturday morning snuggles.
Good buddies playing tball together.
Ben ended up with both tball and soccer scheduled for the same time this morning. I let him choose where we spent our time. He chose tball so off we went to a little league jamboree. The teams were very light on players, so I am assuming most of the boys went to soccer (there is a lot of overlap on those two sports). There were six stations set up and the six teams rotated between the six stations. It seemed like a great way to work on skills and everything moved pretty quickly so the kids rarely had a chance to get bored.
Then it was home for lunch and a nap for Ben. I started some yard work and Kaitlyn got ready for her playdate. Olivia arrived and they played inside and outside, repeat. They were into everything but had a great time. They did request to bake a cake so of course – chocolate cake.
Alex being Alex.
Pizza for dinner tonight. We made three so Teague was nice enough to help me with the dough.
Today we planted raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries.
Ben found an ant and was very mad when he found out it couldn’t come inside to live in his room.
I got to chaperone Kaitlyn’s field trip today. The entire second grade was going to the theater to see the Pout Pout Fish. Overall, I had a great time. The play was adorable and the kids had a fantastic time. I didn’t count on the noise. The bus was loud (but didn’t really bother me). The entire theater was full of school children from various schools and so LOUD. I knew quite a few of the chaperones so we had a text chain going before the play started. We also agreed that a lunch out (Mexican themed due to today’s date) was going to be much needed!
I got Ben’s tball pictures sent today. Ben looks pretty excited to be holding that bat.
Haircuts for the boys today.
Teague cooked 4 dozen cookies tonight for the teachers at his school – Teacher Appreciation Week.
Kaitlyn cooked dinner tonight!
Haircuts for the boys today.
Ben and I were almost to the ball field when the first rain drops began hitting my windshield. No rain had been forecasted so I was hopeful there wouldn’t be much more than a few sprinkles. The game began and the rain intensified. After all the players got a chance at bat, the coaches called it and sent everyone home.
The boys voluntarily hung out together today.
Kaitlyn has reached the end of this series, book 23, and can’t wait for 24 to be released in August.
Typical Ben – even at 6 am.
Ben was so excited when he found this treasure map in a book. He spent at least 20 minutes explaining everything in detail. I can only imagine what he will say after we actually read the book.
Date night means pizza for the kiddos.
Kaitlyn is our child most likely to randomly spend time outside. She can be found playing with Pepper, walking the yard, practicing soccer, helping Wade, etc. Today I looked up to find her outside helping Wade seed the lawn.
Alex has been wanting to make Puppy Chow for a while and tonight we had all of the ingredients. He has turned into quite the late night baker.
Bedtime routines.
These guys created their own version of a reality show. One of them would sing a made-up song and then the other would have these animals (judges) critique the song. It was hilarious!
