Alex setting up for Musical Cakes at the FunFair.
Month: May 2023
Teague filling the lollipop tree in the game area.
Kaitlyn helped get all the prizes ready for FunFair tomorrow.
Ben often has a “look” and today that included these glasses.
Kaitlyn has developed some anxieties when it comes to dental work. When we realized she was going to have to have two of her bottom baby teeth pulled well before they were ready, we began discussing options. Our regular dentist did not want to pull them with her limited options for dealing with Kaitlyn’s anxiety. Instead we were sent to an oral surgeon. That dentist gave us all kinds of options and we decided to have Kaitlyn put all the way to sleep. It was definitely the right decision. Kaitlyn and I went early this morning and the teeth were out and we were on our way home about 40 minutes later. Kaitlyn was a little woozy in the car, but by the time we got home she was back to her normal self. I kept her home from school the entire day but she never once complained about her mouth or teeth.
Alex spent the afternoon making chocolate covered pretzels for the Bake Sale at FunFair.
Teague spent the afternoon making cookies for the Bake Sale at the FunFair.
Kaitlyn was so excited to make her cake for Musical Cakes at the FunFair this weekend.
They call this going to outer space.
Ben seems to still be enjoying Little League – thank goodness. I personally feel like two nights a week is a little much.
Alex is taking Spanish for the second year and this year is proving much more difficult – especially the vocabulary quizzes. Every so often I get recruited to help him practice.
Teague is consistently riding his bike to school – and occasionally has problems with his bike chain. The good news is he is getting really good at fixing it.
Game night with Daddy.
Typical Ben.
Ben and I tried a new hike today (The Cascades in Worcester). I knew there was a good chance the waterfall would be mostly dry and there was only a small trickle, but we enjoyed the hike regardless. Ben also remembered his hiking stick for the first time.
Because we were a little ways from home, we decided to make a day of it. We stopped at a cool park on the way home and went out to lunch. Ben picked Red Robin. I’m not sure if he loves the food or loves dancing in the aisle and taking pictures in the lobby. Either way he’s a hoot.
This is the face I get when I ask him why he isn’t in bed at 8:30 like his siblings.
This is what Teague’s bed looks like almost all the time – including while he sleeps. He just pushes the items over enough to make room for himself.
Typical Kaitlyn after school – Lucky Charms and homework.
Ben and I did a little hiking today.
Alex didn’t mind Spanish class last year. This year it is kicking his butt. He would say mostly due to the teacher. He’s determined to do well on his next quiz.
Teague has settled right back into life at home. More sleep and more chores.
After dinner shenanigans.
I opened my backdoor to find….a cowboy lacrosse player?
Wade has been building some signs for the school FunFair on Saturday. He was adding another layer of paint this afternoon and the littles wanted to help. Since it was only the first coat of color, Wade decided to let the kids have a turn. Ben was so frustrated that he couldn’t spray on his own, but he was determined to try. Kaitlyn just had fun with it.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day started with breakfast in bed. Kaitlyn evidently got up extremely early to make me donuts (a Raddish recipe). Wade joined her at some point to help put them in the oven and hep cut the pear.
Then we were off to church where a flower bar had been prepared for all the ladies. The kids made pictures frames in Sunday School and then Wade took me out to lunch. The boys treated me to dinner. Alex made fajitas and Teague made a chocolate chip pie.
The late afternoon Wade and I spent at Kaitlyn’s soccer game.
Ben and I got to soccer practice about 20 minutes early today. He requested some photos on the bleachers and of course I said yes. I love the poses that he came up with!
I looked up from cooking dinner to find these two kiddos helping Wade out with his branch cutting.
Teague loves drawing his nightly shower out as long as possible so that Kaitlyn and Ben have to wait on him to brush their teeth.
Kaitlyn brought out her lemonade stand on this glorious day.
Ben came home from soccer practice to find a lemonade stand in our driveway. He couldn’t wait to jump in and help.
Teague returned home today from a week at Camp Cody in Freedom, NH. We had gotten a few pictures during the week, but no actual contact with Teague. Wade and I were at the school to pick him up when he got off the bus and we couldn’t wait to hear all about it. He was rather blasé about it, but seemed to have had a good time.
Alex was bored today and begging for chores. I had no trouble coming up with a few for him.
Some of Teague’s favorites – monkey and a good book.
Kaitlyn started a new book series and is already quite engrossed.
Ben and I built a robot this morning!
Kaitlyn was very excited when her latest box arrived from Raddish kids. It had a recipe for Pork Bao Buns and Kaitlyn has been begging nightly to make them. Tonight Kaitlyn made the Buns and I made the Chinese Sticky Rice.
It was definitely an ice cream night!
Today’s picture from Nature’s Classroom.
It was definitely an ice cream night!
The littlest baseball players are always a hoot to wrangle on the baseball field. The only question is what will distract them. Tonight it was the dust. The kids played in it. The kids kicked it up when they ran. They loved it. The poor adults tried so hard to redirect the kids, but it truly was a losing battle and it made for some fun pictures.
I was laughing at Alex drinking his 2 Liter. He pointed out how practical it was. Evidently, this drink was $1.69 (store brand) compared to a can of Sprite which is over $2. I just shook my head and laughed at being a 14 year old boy.
From his face, I’m going to guess Teague didn’t love the all day hike.
These two are, without a doubt, up to no good. I’m pretty sure KitKat knows it too.
This cool dude is patiently waiting for me to get his morning reading done. (We tried this almost a year ago and then put it on hold due to lack of interest. Thankfully, this time around Ben is very interested and attentive.)
Ben was so excited to have his own playdate today. Lucy came over for the morning and stayed for lunch. These two always play well together and today was no exception. They spent most of the day outside with little time inside for various activities. Lunch was the cutest. We made two types of macaroni and cheese, which Ben then combined with frozen peas. They had peppers and hummus on the side with milk. They chatted and ate an then were off to play outside.
With the latest software put on his school computer, Alex has been able to do very little and has been very grumpy. Today he evidently found a game that he can play and life is much happier.
Teague showed up in the pictures taken by the teachers!
Afternoon iPad time.
