Sunday Stories

Ben is always a little crazy at church. He does fairly well sitting with us during the service. Sometimes he wants to go down to the nursery after the Children’s message and sometimes he is content with all the fun items I have in my bag of tricks. Recently he decided it is his job to sign the entire family in the pew register, but that only takes a few minutes.

Today, he made himself well known to the entire church (again). The youth director had all the children up front and was giving the children’s message. She started by talking about macaroni and cheese. She pointed out if you want to cook it, the directions are on the back. She had a few other similar examples of where you find directions. Then she asked the question, “What do you need to do if you want to go to Heaven?” Ben immediately piped up (loudly), “You die.”

The entire church burst out laughing. He was of course completely correct and is still a little too young to say things entirely for humor’s sake. Looking back, the youth director probably should have worded that question a little differently, but her children’s message won’t be soon forgotten thanks to Ben.
