He’s read this entire series before, but evidently he’s decided to read it again. Why not?
Month: March 2019
It’s soap!
I’m torn on how to feel about this. Should I be glad he remembered to actually wet and soap his hair? Or annoyed he didn’t get it all out and and now has to get back in the shower?
(This kid and showers is an ongoing battle in so many ways.)
Storytime with our favorite friends.
Babies feeding babies.
Kaitlyn’s dance class only has four girls when everyone is in attendance. Today one girl was home sick. These three little ones still had fun. I’m going to miss next year when all classes have to be after school or or on weekends. Extracurricular activities are going to have much bigger class sizes.
Shower time for Pepper!
(Thankfully I have not yet had to participate in this activity – hopefully I can keep it up. Wade or Alex have taken care of her so far. Madison is still my dog to bathe.)
Teague likes to create, but only with pens. He got this multi-colored pen for Christmas and it is one of his prized possessions.
My Little Pony is the favorite toy right now. Ponies all the time!
Ben obviously can’t wait to start helping his siblings unload the dishwasher.
Here are the listing pictures for the new house. We close in June. I can’t wait!!
Our church had a St. Patrick’s Day Karoake Party. We loved it!
I’m not sure we have ever done much for St. Patrick’s Day in the past. This year not only wore green, we baked, went to a party at church, and sang Karaoke! It was definitely a day the kids won’t soon forget. Now I’m just curious if there is a video out there anywhere I can hunt down…
Wade and I did a thing. We bought a house. A second house. When we moved to Grafton, we were a little bit tight on time to find a house. We bought one we liked, but we quickly realized it wasn’t going to be a forever house. We have done quite a bit to our house to make it work for us. We have also tried to figure out how to make it work long term. We even found some good solutions, but they are fairly expensive and don’t solve all of our problems. We were getting really close to doing some major renovations on our current house to make it work for the next 5-7 years. Then last weekend we decided we might as well look at what was on the market for the equivalent of the renovations we were discussing. Imagine my surprise when the one house I have always considered my dream house was sitting at the top of the listing page!??! I immediately wanted to see the inside because rarely does the inside match my dreams. This time it was even better! I sent the listing to Wade and he scheduled a showing for Monday before he even finished looking at all the pictures. We both loved the house and immediately submitted an offer. We are now the owners of two houses – hopefully soon that will be down to one!
I have no idea what they were up to, but they made a cute picture dancing in the hallway.
This one would happily play all day in these now. He’s definitely my son.
The places my children choose to nap..
In case there were any doubts, we got plenty of use out of Pepper’s cone.
I was folding laundry in my bedroom while Ben and Kaitlyn played. They got really quiet so I decided I might should hunt them down. I finally found them in Ben’s room quietly reading books. These are the kinds of surprises I love!
Poor Ben. He’s going to be that kid that realizes in 7 years that he has never had a working controller during the hours and hours of video games he thought he was playing.
At 14 years old, Madison is still the best kitchen cleanup I have ever had.
Why does he suddenly look like a teenager?
The boys tried something new – creative building.
Swim Time!
Watching Daddy leave for work.
Ben has a new trick. This kid likes to keep me on my toes!?! Thankfully he does not know how to open the storm door, but I’m sure it is only a matter of time…
This guy is very protective of “his” bin of Legos.
It’s great to have a big brother that will read to you when Mom is busy.
Wade and I made these blocks for Alex when he was little. They haven’t been touched in years, but suddenly they are a hot toy again.
Once or twice a month, we spend an hour in a waiting room waiting for Alex. Sometimes we manage without electronics. Sometimes I take pity on the other people having to sit and wait too.
Dad gets major points for walking the kids to the bus stop every morning.
It turns out our refrigerator is magnetic!
Every afternoon the house is quiet. Ben is napping. Kaitlyn has quiet time (and often naps). Pepper sits in this chair and looks out the window – waiting for Alex. (The noise she makes when she seems him walking down the driveway can be heard up and down the street.)
Bedtime books by Dad.
The happiest kid on earth.
These two wanted sweets. The fastest (and surest) way in our house to get them is to offer to bake them. They suggested chocolate chip cookies and got right to work. I tried to take a few pictures but this was the reaction I got. It definitely seems to say “Go away”.
Homemade cookies (made by Teague and Kaitlyn) are the best!
Wade took the big boys to an indoor go-kart track. Needless to say – they had a blast!
Quiet time today – everybody needed some!
The happiest kid!
Ben has always loved bananas, but lately he eats an entire banana. I don’t just mean in the normal way. I mean an ENTIRE banana – the inside and the peel. He gets really excited when I hand him the banana. Then he turns it around and starts to eat it from the bottom first – peel first. Ben has been doing this often enough I even did some research into it. It turns out eating a banana peel is done in some countries and they are full of nutrients – but normally people eat them when they are very ripe because they taste sweeter.
Poor Pepper has been spayed and is recovering at home with lots of attention.
These two…
Napper.
Today Pepper spent the day with our vet. She got dropped off early this morning and I picked her up right after school. She is now spayed and more calm than I think I have ever seen her – thank you drugs. We’ll see how she reacts in the next few days. I’m really hoping she doesn’t have to wear the cone as much as she should. I know she isn’t going to like it.
Alex the builder – some days I think he has grown out of this and then he hits another creative spurt and I love it.
These two would much rather be talking and drawing than swimming.
Swim lessons!
Morning quiet time while everyone else hurries out the door.
Our Thursdays are hectic, but at least we always know we will be with friends. My kids look forward to seeing their buddies – and doing a little swimming. Ben, on the other hand, is getting to be a challenge. If I were smart, I would probably put him in the Y’s childcare, but it always seems a little more trouble than it is worth. One day I’ll change my mind – probably after he ends up in the pool!
Hump day.
