Chore day.
Month: September 2022
Evenings with the boys.
Pepper isn’t the smartest dog we have had, but she has figured out routines. She knows who feeds her and who doesn’t. She won’t bug me at all for food because I don’t offer her snacks or ever fill her dog bowl. However, the minute Kaitlyn sits down to eat she starts pawing at her leg to be fed. (This only occurs on the days that Alex sleeps late and she hasn’t already eaten.)
Bedhead and scrambled eggs.
Today was our yearly Back to School Picnic for the two elementary schools. I’m on the PTG board so I spent most of the day helping organize and most of the evening manning the table, but it was a lot of fun! I love seeing everyone get together and have a great time.

When asked, Ben was excited at the idea of playing soccer this fall. When it came time to actually get dressed and go to the field….Well then it was another story. He wasn’t so sure about the whole thing. In the end, he went with a good attitude and did last the full 45 minutes. However, I maintain 30 minutes would be much better.
I went to bed while Alex was still up working on Spanish homework that he conveniently forgot until bedtime.
Teague chose a spontaneous nap over discussing his choice not to do homework. (It’s been a day…)
Good morning.
Ben has been asking to play this mini Pac-Man game constantly.
Ben came in my room this morning to wake me up (which he never does) because his eye hurt. We tried drops, a shower, a nap, and a call to the eye doctor. Ultimately, Ben stayed home from school and the eye slowly got better as the day went on. He alternated being fine and laying on the floor crying in pain. We never heard back from the doctor, but after a 3 hour nap, the eye seemed fine.
Video games with Daddy!
Video games with Daddy. Wade said Ben was hilarious. Ben and Wade were supposed to be on a team together but at the last minute Ben hit the wrong button and switched himself to the other team, but didn’t realize it. Then he would get mad when Wade killed him in the game (it’s a fruit ninja game). But he would get even more excited when Wade killed the other bad or Ben would even sometimes forget which fruit he was and get excited for the wrong reasons.
Ben has been begging me to cut the watermelon for days. I finally cut it and he ate and ate and ate.
This boy is staying up later and later – just like his dad. Tonight I told him goodnight while he was still roaming the house.
Just killing time.
Math homework (flashcards) online. Life is crazy..
Ben styled this look and then requested the picture.
If only all cookie dough were presented to me this way….
Cookie time!
Just doing a little yardwork.
Ben and his style choices..
Rally Sunday at church ended up rather rainy, but we still had a lot of fun!
All of my kids love one-on-one time with Gram.
Rally Sunday at church today!
Kaitlyn had a soccer game today and Gram got to watch. It rained a little, which Kaitlyn hates, but she managed to play through it, and we had a great time watching her.
Alex recruited the boys for yard work and I only regret not getting a picture at the end of the day. The boys were filthy!
Teague has homework this year and is quite annoyed with it. However, he has been good about getting it done.
Gram agreed to a makeover. Kaitlyn decided lip gloss would make a great foundation.
Both Kaitlyn and Ben have made up their own rules to Clue and love to play. Gram is awesome enough to humor them.
Now that cheer practice has moved indoors, I rarely stay to watch. Kaitlyn won’t be cheering at a game this weekend, so Gram wanted to stay for her practice.
Morning chores.
These two are so excited to have Gram in town.
This boy and his iPad…
My Mom and I very carefully planned her visit to coordinate with the third Brimfield Antique show of the year – something I have wanted to see for years. Wade was nice enough to take over kid pickup/dropoff for the day and we spent the day walking the antique fields. My mom and I got there about 9 and stayed till they closed at 5. We took a 30 minute break for lunch and spent the rest of the day exploring all of the vendors. We were mainly looking for a corner cabinet and side tables. I only took pictures of things I thought Wade would like, but I did find two side tables and a corner cabinet to bring home. Wade was nice enough to return late at night for the corner cabinet!!
I love when Alex offers to cook.
Typical enthusiasm for a school morning.
S’more pie coming right up.
I knew Ben had been a little too quiet for a little too long. Then he appeared with a green finger and was so proud of himself!
Alex almost never has breakfast, but today he had extra time and the cinnamon swirl toast smelled good to him. I was quite shocked when he fixed himself two pieces to eat on his walk.
Teague evidently wanted to make sure he didn’t forget what he looked like. I got quite a kick of it.
The scribble scrubbies came out to play.
Ben has spent lots of free time coloring lately and has come a long way. He can almost stay in the lines when he wants to. Now if I could only get him to use a coloring book instead of demanding a custom printed coloring page every time the whim strikes him.
First day of preschool for Ben.
Wade decided to make dinner a little more interesting tonight. He was trying to teach the kids how to balance a spoon on their nose and it spiraled from there. (Kaitlyn really missed out by being at cheer practice.)
Tonight we practiced hidden talents.
