Second soccer practice of the day!
Month: May 2018
Post soccer car nap – on the way to Teague’s soccer practice.
Baby Ben.
Alex’s favorite reading spot of the day.
Teague is happiest when driving something with wheels.
Kaitlyn accessorized herself today and was quite excited about it.
This boy is all smiles, all the time.
I got a note from Kaitlyn’s teachers letting me know that she would be celebrating her birthday tomorrow at school. It seems they are cramming all the summer birthdays into the same week at school (most schools celebrate on a child’s half-birthday to space them out). Kaitlyn requested “pink” cupcakes so we got the ingredients for strawberry cupcakes. She was very excited to help me make them.
Have I talked lately about our cute little town? I’ve grown to love it. We live near the center of town and often walk to the playground, library, or ice cream shop. Today Kaitlyn, Ben, and I walked down to the playground to meet friends. When Alex got off the bus, a friend told him to walk to the playground instead of our house. He joined us for playing and then a walk for ice cream. Before our playdate was over we stopped for a few library books and then all met Teague when he got off the bus. Small town life isn’t bad.
Brothers.
Kaitlyn begged for a picnic lunch and we settled for the picnic table with the picnic blanket.
Morning.
They couldn’t explain their game to me, but they all understood it and appeared to be having a blast.
Wade sent me this just so I would know Ben was getting a little attention while I was gone.
I took one of the quickest trips I have ever taken! I flew out of Boston yesterday and arrived in Chicago mid-morning. I spent about 24 hours with two of my Milwaukee friends (Amber and Nicki) and one of my Barrington friends (Maria) before getting on a plane this morning and flying back home. It was a quick trip but it was great to see everyone!
I was going through everyone’s clothes and getting rid of everything too small. Teague had a fit when I started to pull some of his old underwear. He begged and begged to keep the pair of boxer briefs with the cars. I started laughing because I remember they were one of the first pair I bought him when he was 2 (he is 7 now) and they were on the big side then. He wanted to wear them anyway because he loved cars so much. Now they are definitely on the small side but he still wants to wear them because he still loves cars…
They are shown with a pair of the correct size just to show how small they truly are for him. I decided to leave them in his drawer for now and remove them at some point when he isn’t aware.
I left town for the weekend and Wade kept the kids in line.
Ben entertaining himself while everyone else does morning chores.
The week the big boys were in Memphis, I did quite a bit of painting. One of the rooms I painted was the kid’s bathroom. The walls, trim, and ceiling all got a new coat of paint! This room is considered done for now. Maybe someday it will get a new vanity with double sinks, but that’s a ways down the road.
Siblings.
Siblings.
So close to bedtime. So close.
Swim lessons have been so much more fun this session thanks to Ronan and Parker.
Playdate at the park.
I walked in to find Ben snuggling Teague’s monkey.
Tonight the kids worked really hard on the elusive double piggyback. They only got it for a few seconds.
I wish I had timed exactly how much longer the scooter added to our morning bus stop walk. It would have been notable.
Wade was in charge of getting everyone where they needed to go tonight. He got 4 kids to go 2 soccer practices – not an easy feat!
Kaitlyn has made the best group of friends (and the moms are pretty awesome too). Today we met up at the Ecotarium for playing and lunching.
Alex wanted Teague to play with him so badly that he tried to help him with his homework.
I love the outdoor area at the Ecotarium. It’s full of water and mud and sand with plenty of buckets and shovels for the kids.
It was chillier than I had anticipated on our outing today. I did have a blanket but Ben kicks so much I couldn’t keep his bare legs covered.
