We kind of love our after school playdates.
Teague
Alex couldn’t wait to pick Teague up from school today and play with his friends in the snow again. Today the boys perfected the penguin slide.
This boy was so excited when his new belt came in the mail – after begging and begging for a new one when he outgrew the old one.
We had an odd Monday today. Teague started back to school and Alex is off till Thursday. We dropped Teague at his class and then came home to do a little playing.
Then we picked Teague up and of course stayed to play a little in the snow with Teague’s friends. (Note that only one boy is wearing snow pants – not one of my boys!)
Teague started back to school on Monday. Alex doesn’t go back till Thursday. Now that Alex has seen what our days look like, I’m not sure we’ll ever get him to get on the bus.
Sunday – football and naps.
Sunday naps.
The yearly toast has changed quite a bit – see here.
We decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve with our Milwaukee friends a few days late. (The kids didn’t mind and we all love an excuse to get together!) Here’s a comparison of our first New Year’s Eve celebration in 2012 and now….
The kids bounced all over the house from playroom to video games.
Don’t judge. My children stayed in their pajamas all day. Then put on a new pair just to go to bed.
Happy New Year!
One last group photo before we left Collierville.
Aunt Emmy brought crafts! The boys were painting puzzle pieces to make into ornaments. Kaitlyn and a little trouble just sitting and watching.
Teague was so thrilled to help Anthony wash dishes at the Burch Christmas.
Aunt Emmy’s got a lap full!
I want it on record that he dressed himself like this and I tried over and over to get him to wear his pants lower.
Christmas morning.
(Kaitlyn is much more interested in everyone else’s toys – She’s holding Alex’s new dragon.)
Christmas Eve.
I’d heard about this awesome Santa. The boys couldn’t wait to tell him what they wanted for Christmas and I couldn’t wait to take pictures.
I didn’t count on the torrential downpour, the bad lighting, my grumpy daughter, and my two seconds to take a picture. Oh well, it could have been fantastic.
We needed a few last minute items before the holidays.
Everyone’s favorite part of the night…
Sometimes a dead car battery gives you just enough time for a picture before church.
Teague got a new book at school and couldn’t wait for us to read it.
Pajama Day at school!
Teague was super excited that these goggles fit over his glasses and that the dart would stick to the goggles.
Win. Win. (I guess!??!)
Wednesday. Already?
(Fun fact. Wade made the wreath above the kids with left over branches from our Christmas tree.)
It’s always a party at the Burch house.
Yay for early Christmas presents from good friends!
Sunday evening…
Picture with Santa.
(Nailed it.)
We are a little late, but the boys’ finally got out the communicator to talk to Santa.
(Thank you year at Hallmark!)
The group picture and the arms raised? That means the last practice of the session! (And the last one of the winter for us – we are taking a break!)
Their new game is to catch Tabit. I almost wish she wasn’t such a good cat.
Granny and Pop sent Christmas books and handmade ornaments!
We do love Christmas pajamas in this house.
Sunday best.
Christmas tree successfully acquired.
A boy just doing boy things.
This morning they stole my bathroom.
(Kaitlyn’s face sums up the experience perfectly!)
I have lost control of my kitchen.
Normally when I pick Teague up from school the teacher calls his name from the door and he then comes outside the classroom to where I am waiting. Today I knew he wasn’t coming when the teacher called. I finally looked inside to see what was causing a problem. Thankfully I had my camera ready.
These three boys are always together and either running, jumping, wrestling, or hugging.
The best new thing at our house – spirograph!
(Wade and I both fondly remember them from childhood too.)
We had a little theme going today.
Teague always wants a hug before Kaitlyn takes her nap.
General chaos.
It’s always a little crazy at Gram’s house on Thanksgiving morning. There’s a parade on TV, cooking in the kitchen, and this year there were new toys for the kids (some of Gram’s friends were cleaning out before Christmas). Kaitlyn was convinced the huge space rover was a ride-on toy for her. The boys were willing to let her ride for awhile and just played around her.
Then Melissa and her crew showed up and the real fun began.
Then we had the Upshaws come by for a visit. If Melissa’s kids hadn’t been so near bedtime it would have been the first time all the toad frogs and elephtans (and their kids) and been together in years and years. Maybe next time.
Cousins on Thanksgiving.
It turns out glasses wearers have their own unique issues when napping in the car.
It suddenly occurred to me we were going out of town tomorrow and nobody had had a shower in days…
Morning bus stop.
