Fighting a zombie apocalypse.
(Kaitlyn was loving the game – she did not like stopping to have her picture taken)
Kaitlyn
We tried to take a picture of us reading, but our camera angle was a little off…
She is determined to wear goggles like her brothers, but I have no idea how she actually sees anything with them on.
My little helper was so excited to help me clean today. (We won’t discuss quite how long it has been since every room was clean at the same time.)
Kaitlyn has been asking to make a pie for her teachers all week. This morning we made time before school to make a chocolate chip pie for the ladies.
Kaitlyn has been pouring over a catalog we got from Magic Cabin. I’d never heard of it before but she has a few items she has latched onto for her Christmas list and looks at daily.
Sam’s Club run with all three.
Testing out all things for the baby.
According to the dentist, all of my children still need a little help brushing. I will admit that Kaitlyn is the easiest to help. She will lay down in my lap and let me brush till I think I’m done. (The boys have their own ideas on how we should brush and for how long.)
Sunday.
I love that Teague will always take time to play with his sister.
My little sidekick was content to sit and read while I folded laundry.
The kids had their last dental cleaning right before we left Chicago. I have always loved their dentists so I looked at numerous reviews to find an awesome place here. Success! We found a great place not too far away that would take all three kids at the same time! They had video games in their waiting room. All three children were in the same room with their own hygienist and I was able to talk to the ladies as they finished. The dentist came in and worked right down the line. As we finished discussing one child, the hygienist would keep the child entertained for me while I talked. It was a dream for a Mom!
How we do girl hair.
Kaitlyn has been begging to paint in the shower. I finally agreed and she was done after 30 seconds. I was trying to iron so I begged her to paint a little longer. I came back to find her painting herself.
Evidently Elsa and Anna decided to have a sleepover in my bathroom while I was in the shower.
There has been a lot of hide-n-seek at our house lately and the boys have been great about including Kaitlyn. She happily takes her turn counting too.
Evening.
Lunchtime silliness.
Kaitlyn painted this pumpkin at Trunk-or-Treat a few weekends ago. Then I cleaned off the paint (without asking) and used it for a game at Teague’s school. Kaitlyn was quite perturbed and repainted it today.
When I told her she could play the iPad, I never dreamed I’d find her in this particular position.
Kaitlyn has been begging to take these items back in the shower, but I didn’t want to deal with drying her hair. Instead we ran a few inches of water in the tub and she played while I did laundry. Win-win.
Most days there is a “kiss and hug” before Teague gets on the bus.
A full lap for reading.
Before school.
What a day! Wade stayed home today to help me out with child-care coordination. I needed to be at Teague’s school all day for his parade and party (somehow I am the only room mother for the class), and Alex gets off the bus an hour before I would get home. The party went great and the kids were adorable!
Then we had a short time at home before it was time for trick or treating! The kids were so excited to visit the houses on our street. Then we ventured to “South Street.” This is a street close to ours that shuts down and puts on a huge block party. Some of the houses have movies, cotton candy, popcorn, etc. It is insanely crowded but a lot of fun.
We didn’t get home till almost 9 and everyone was worn out! We let each child pick one candy and then the rest of the sorting/trading was put off for another day.
Happy Halloween!
We had some bad storms last night and the power was out at Kaitlyn’s school today. That meant she had to accompany me to the doctor’s office. She didn’t seem to mind a bit.
Well hello there Wonder Woman.
The best part of Trick-or-Treating (or in this case Trunk-or-Treating) is the candy evaluation and swapping that happens afterwards.
My MOPS group had a playdate at Tougas Farm today. I had heard great things about the farm, but we hadn’t been able to find time to go as a family. Instead, I kept Kaitlyn out of school and we met up with the other Moms and kids. We didn’t actually see any pumpkins, but the play area was great, the apple cider donuts were delicious, and everyone loved feeding the goats.
I came out of the shower to find someone had gotten into my sock drawer.
Napping.
Why oh why can’t all store checkouts have children’s books at the front?
School ready.
We’ve recently created a playlist on Spotify with all of Kaitlyn’s favorite disney songs. She loves to listen to the songs and look at the cover art while I make lunch.
Little Miss Independent wouldn’t let me help walk Madison. Here’s hoping she doesn’t suddenly see a squirrel or bird.
This is the first year we haven’t had some kind of pumpkin carving party, but between a new house, new town, and a baby coming it just never got planned. Instead we had the best time as a family carving pumpkins today. Kaitlyn and Alex had both wanted a huge pumpkin so they picked one out together yesterday and had to work as a team to clean it out and design the face. Teague had picked a reasonable size pumpkin and wanted to do it all himself – cleaning, designing, and carving.
Family pumpkin carving.
This is the closest we made it to a pumpkin patch as a family. This little stand down the road had some huge pumpkins and Kaitlyn knew immediately which one she wanted.
We went to a magic show at Teague’s school tonight. The magician was pretty good and definitely knew his target age range, but Kaitlyn eventually got bored and went digging in my purse for something to do.
Swim lessons start in 5 minutes.
Soup for lunch.
She’s so content to entertain herself while I do necessary things like make us lunch.
Dance little one. Dance.
Making breakfast.
The most fought over lego in our house is currently the skinny blocks Kaitlyn used to make her tower.
(It used to be flats.)
The boys were gifted free hockey tickets when they joined Scouts. (There is a new minor league team in Worcester.)
We got to the arena and saw the line for will call tickets. It wrapped around the building and didn’t move after 20 minutes.
We went out for ice cream instead.
Kaitlyn always wants to order ice cream but only eats a few bites. She wants to pick her flavor – meaning pink – and won’t willingly share with me. Sharing with Daddy is another story. Thankfully there is almost always a berry flavor of sorbet and she don’ts realize the difference in sorbet and ice cream yet. Win-win.
