A boy and his dog.
(Alex has really taken an interest in the animals recently. He has learned to approach them calmly and then to gently pet them. Amazingly now they don’t always run from him.)
Alex
Smile. You’re on camera.
(Wade brought home these video glasses to test. Alex has loved wearing them all day and recording/narrating everything he sees.)
This reminds me of a 4 year old version’s of Born To Be Wild.
Alex came home from school telling me this necklace was for catching rainbows. Tonight it was the requested item for dessert.
And so it begins with the second child (taught by the first child)
Alex turned his socks into knee socks and thought it was hilarious. He even requested the picture.
We decided on an after dinner walk and Alex was a little concerned it might get dark before we got back to the house. He wanted a flashlight for everyone, but we finally set a group limit of two.
A little teamwork.
Happy Birthday to Mom.
Batman to the rescue.
Alex likes to brush his teeth by himself in the morning. Thankfully I thought to check his face before we got ready to leave the house.
Photographer and his subject (eating jello).
Thankfully Daddy and his shop come through when craftiness is needed for Kindermusik class.
Typical Alex. He took a break from playing with Abram and Riley to read one of his new library books.
Tie assembly line.
It only took moments…
Working on the farm.
Just two boys in a box.
I count 10.
I walked in to find Alex helping Teague take a drink from a “big cup.”
Personal story time!
(There were other kids at story time, but most of them were younger than Teague. Miss Vickie had picked a book for Alex and Riley and Riley couldn’t make it. The other kids quickly lost interest so Alex got a personal story today.)
We recently saw a little boy at the park playing baseball with his Daddy. Alex has wanted to play ever since. Today we finally got out his baseball and bat.
“It’s 15 pounds”
Dinner prayers.
Today we remembered helmets.
“I’m just checking to make sure Gram’s in there.”
Alex spends at least part of every day playing Rescue Bots – thank you Easter Bunny for bringing Heatwave. It’s his favorite!
Alex has wanted to sleep in our bed for months and months and kept waiting for me to take a trip so he could sleep with Daddy. (I think at some point he realized this wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.) Then he realized he could sleep in our bed with Gram!
Chocolate bunny I think I love you.
Trunki races!
Reading books..
Puddle jumpers.
The contrast of painted toes (by request) and ripped knees (also by request) is all Alex.
That thing called bedtime.
Just lazing in the bed.
Guess who found a Sharpie?
Alex only wanted to ride through puddles. Thankfully Teague had enough skill to steer around the puddles and didn’t pick today to copy everything Alex did.
Diaper changing lesson.
Alex’s “star board” has made life around the Burch house much happier lately. Alex can earn stars for good behavior or lose stars for bad behavior. When he has earned four stars he can have a tv show or play on my iPad. It has improved behavior and stopped the constant asking for TV. Genius!
Wade’s family has quite the “debate” about Peeps. I am happy to report both boys seem to be big fans.
Wade and I brought the boys back some Rock Candy from North Carolina.

Helping clean for Granny and Pop’s visit.
Alex’s 4 year check-up came with two shots. He had a rough time with them (and then also with the fact that Teague had to get shots). He also told me he couldn’t help carry in his bags or raise his arm to take off his shirt tonight. Life is rough.
Splatter paint.
Alex is normally pretty quick in the bathroom. Tonight I realized he had been in there quite a while. I asked him two different times if he was okay and he quickly replied, “fine”. When I went to check on him I realized why he had been occupied for so long.
