Alex got to ride in a Japanese fire truck today (at least 10 laps around) – Granny and Pop’s friends have the coolest toys!

Last day of school!
Today it occurred to me that Alex is tall enough to see into our silverware drawer. Bingo! Now he can unload the silverware from the dishwasher. Mom loves the help and he loves earning a star.
Alex loves his Crocs, but they do quite a number on his feet in the summer. Tonight I wouldn’t let him take his shoes off until he was ready to get in the shower. (If you know Alex you know this was quite a big deal. He is adamant about taking shoes off at the backdoor.) Then he had to take the shoes in the shower and wash them too.
Alex is really starting to enjoy soccer (it only took 3 sessions of lessons).
Brothers.
Take them to the playground and they are fascinated with the sewer drain.
Alex wasn’t interested in having his picture taken today..
As an explanation for why he was choosing the rabbit setting on his lawn mower, Alex told me, “I’m going to put it in rabbit because we don’t see any turtles in our yard.”
Monkey.
Both kids thought washing my car was the best idea I’d had in a long time. Who would have guessed?
We received a “Happy Box” in the mail today. It had belated birthday presents for everybody. Alex’s words at seeing the wrapped presents – “Do you think it’s a toy or maybe a new book?” Love that boy!
My cheering crew for the race “Run Like A Mother”.
Happy Mother’s Day!
The boys wanted to make sugar cookies so we did.
I would say this is a typical breakfast except the boys almost never have cereal (not to mention they had at least three bowls each).
This unprompted hug from Teague is due to the cars on Alex’s t-shirt. He saw them and went running.
Two out of the three in this picture were really happy.
Alex and Abram had a blast beating up on Bobby (the inflatable wacky arm guy) today. Wade’s birthday present continues to be a big hit with everyone.
Alex decided he wanted to sleep in socks tonight and that he could put them on by himself…
Alex thought Teague’s taco-eating method looked pretty cool and wanted to try it too.
This is Alex’s chosen attire for a walk to get ice cream in 60+ degree weather.
Adoption Day!
Teague is officially a Burch!
A free toy and all we have to do is write a review? Sure!
This is what happens when you go to the grocery immediately after a stop at the library.
(And when they are both dressed like Superman a nice old man gives them both a dollar.)
Alex always likes to check out the lobsters when we go to the fish store. Today the man got one out and let Alex look at it up close and personal. He offered to let Alex hold it but touching a fingertip was as close as he got.
We’re trying soccer again. Here’s hoping a 4 year old can handle hour long practices.
A boy and his dog.
(Alex has really taken an interest in the animals recently. He has learned to approach them calmly and then to gently pet them. Amazingly now they don’t always run from him.)
Smile. You’re on camera.
(Wade brought home these video glasses to test. Alex has loved wearing them all day and recording/narrating everything he sees.)
This reminds me of a 4 year old version’s of Born To Be Wild.
Alex came home from school telling me this necklace was for catching rainbows. Tonight it was the requested item for dessert.
And so it begins with the second child (taught by the first child)
Alex turned his socks into knee socks and thought it was hilarious. He even requested the picture.
We decided on an after dinner walk and Alex was a little concerned it might get dark before we got back to the house. He wanted a flashlight for everyone, but we finally set a group limit of two.
A little teamwork.
Happy Birthday to Mom.
Batman to the rescue.
Alex likes to brush his teeth by himself in the morning. Thankfully I thought to check his face before we got ready to leave the house.
Photographer and his subject (eating jello).
Thankfully Daddy and his shop come through when craftiness is needed for Kindermusik class.
Typical Alex. He took a break from playing with Abram and Riley to read one of his new library books.
Tie assembly line.
It only took moments…
Working on the farm.
Just two boys in a box.
I count 10.
I walked in to find Alex helping Teague take a drink from a “big cup.”
Personal story time!
(There were other kids at story time, but most of them were younger than Teague. Miss Vickie had picked a book for Alex and Riley and Riley couldn’t make it. The other kids quickly lost interest so Alex got a personal story today.)
