Sliding.
Alex
It was a tent-in-the-living-room-kind of day.
One of Alex’s jobs this summer has been to put on Teague’s shoes before we leave the house. Some days Teague is okay with this and others he really doesn’t like Alex being the one to help him. I’m all for it and encourage it as much as possible!
Alex wanted to fish so back wen went to the pond at Elm Grove Village Park.
The boys love the rice box and Mom loves the rice box outside!
Older playdate – Alex and Abram.
Puzzled.
Wade and I attended a Methodist church in 2008 and spent quite a bit of time with a group there called – Young Couples With No Kids. We still get together socially with the group, but the “No Kids” part definitely doesn’t apply…
Zoo classes! (Full disclosure – this picture was only taken with the help of an M&M bribe.)
That’s my son – rocking the backwards helmet.
Yes it is the end of July and this is how we had to dress (and I actually had a jacket on except for the picture)!
Just watching the vehicles go round and round.
(This doesn’t get pulled out often, but it is just as mesmerizing for all when it does..)
Testing out the new slip ‘n slide.
I was a little unclear, but this play scenario seemed to include policeman and construction vehicles.
(Funny moment: Alex kept calling the handcuffs “keychains”. Abram kept correcting him and Alex kept making the same mistake. Hysterical to overhear.)
My instructions were to get a pair of socks so we could try on some new Sunday shoes. Alex came back looking like this…
A bedtime moment with Dad.
Brother pirates – argh.
Working hard in the shop.
Bowling – Alex loved it, after he was reminded not to kick the ball down the lane.
Alex was excited about going to the dentist, but not about being there. We tried to have him go first, but quickly abandoned that plan. Even after seeing Teague it took significant convincing to have his teeth counted and cleaned. Finally we finished and thankfully we don’t go back for another 6 months. (This is my child that was a model patient for the first 3 years at the dentist…)
Struggling to wake up from nap.
Making stew.
The love of Biscuit is being passed down to Teague.
This boy loves being in the shop with his Daddy.
Car wash kind of day.
Brothers.
Joyride.
Backyard fun.
You take them to the park and the biggest hit is the water fountain…
Alex was really sad when we finally had to say goodnight to his roly-poly bug and go inside.
We tried for a cousin picture again. Again Alex was pitching a fit at holding the baby (even with all the bribes we were offering). Wade plopped Mackenzie in Teague’s arms and he snuggled and cuddled and loved on her so sweetly. He held her gently and kissed her head. He never squeezed or moved enough to upset her or even change her position. Amazing!
Alex loved playing on the diving board but didn’t actually jump off of it – maybe next time he’ll be able to swim to the side.
S’mores.
Muscle man. (There was a lot of extra toilet paper left over from the games at the holiday picnic and Wade put it to good use making Alex some “muscles”.)
Waiting on customers.
We made it to Gram’s house just in time for bed. Alex picked one of my childhood favorites – The Cat In The Hat Comes Back.
When I look at this picture, I see Abram driving the rocketship and Alex in the passenger seat reading a book. That’s my boy!
Alex was so excited for his first sleepover. He had his backpack ready for Abram’s almost from the minute he woke up this morning.
Wade finally decided to toss my old laptop. He salvaged the RAM and hard drive and was getting ready to throw the rest in the trash. I knew of a much better use for it. Alex loved his new laptop and played on it all day.
Our neighbor gave us an assortment of greens from his garden and Alex ate them in a sitting (with no dressing or toppings).
Fun with friends in the sand!
(Alex, Riley, Glenna, and Teague)
After dinner entertainment.
A stormy, rainy day seemed perfect for staying in pajamas and playing play dough.
Best buddies.
We bought this pool at the end of last year and Alex has been asking to blow it up ever since (including the dead of winter). Finally today we tried out the lion pool. I didn’t realize it was going to be smaller than our old giraffe pool (or maybe it’s just that Alex is bigger?).
Teamwork.
This scenario started with Alex playing cars. When I walked by later there were suddenly two chairs and two little boys. I’m pretty sure Alex had to have helped Teague move a chair over – what a great big brother!
Someone had a little fun with the shaving cream.
He looks so much older than 4 in this picture (at least to me)!
King of the playground.
