It turns out our local beach has a special day just for dogs. After the beach is officially closed to the public for swimming, it opens one last time for dogs. Madison has always loved to swim so we headed to the beach. Madison swam. Alex talked to every dog owner he could find. (He’s doing research on what kind of dog he wants if we get one next year.) Kaitlyn played in the sand. Teague observed it all. Then a man offered to let Alex throw a ball for his dog. He and Kaitlyn spent the next hour playing fetch with a very happy puppy.
Amazingly, none of my kids ended up in the water. We went home with a wet dog and dry kids.
