Alex gave up his pacifier about seven months ago. He switched from bottles to sippy cups about the same time. It took us a while to realize that he was simply using the soft spout of his sippy cup as a pacifier. We tried taking away the cup if he isn’t actively drinking. Then we tried only have the cup when in the high chair. He would still just sit and suck and suck without drinking. This week we made the big switch from the soft spouts to the hard spouts:
I have noticed the he drinks a little less, but overall Alex doesn’t seem too upset:
