Alex found Pop’s piggy bank
(Anybody know what it actually is?)
Alex
Granny’s house has the best toys.
(It’s probably bad that a phone with a cord is an unusual thing to Alex.)
Pop came for a quick visit
(just a few hours before he and Alex both got on the plane for Memphis)
Best friend hugs.
There was a lot of commotion outside tonight (protesters gathering) and Alex loved the helicopters overhead.
A Curious George book, pink “reading” glasses, and the promise of ice cream. What more could he want?
The dishwasher is still a favorite place to play (See two years ago here).
Alex was so excited about his first pair of boxers that he didn’t want to take them off.
(Finding a size 2 was not easy! Thank you J. Crew)
horsin’ around.
I woke up at 1:30 AM to Alex crying in his room. I rushed in and asked what was wrong. He responded, “I need the blanket to cover my toes”. I covered him up and back to sleep he went.
Yesterday at MDO, Alex saw a lady with a vase of flowers. The rest of the day and all of this morning he kept asking for flowers. I had to run into Stein’s anyway, so Alex picked out a flower. It’s been the “toy” of choice all day.
Legos pretty much make Alex’s world go round….
Ready to play!
(Alex doesn’t just say “Packers”. He says, “Football Packers”)
Alex tried to convince Wade that nap should take place on the couch.
(Wade didn’t fall for it.)
Alex found Wade’s headphones and wanted to listen to music. Wade chose the “Terrible Twos” for him.
Helping Mom make bran muffins.
We’ve been spending a lot of time at the yogurt place. Alex always wants “Chocolate”. (That’s my boy!)
A read-by-the-fire kind of night.
How not to hold a cat!
(Alex was holding her tummy and then his grip slipped. I happened to get a picture before I realized what had happened. Throughout it all our awesome cat didn’t struggle or scratch at all.)
Let the trick-or-treating begin!
Halloween cupcakes (with sprinkles) – yum!
Our pumpkin carving party was this evening and Alex substituted all kinds of sweets for dinner. At least we were firm on brushing teeth before bed.
Alex “read” his first book today. Granted it’s an easy Baby book, but he pretty much repeated the right words on the right pages.
Cookie dough clean-up.
Having fun in the nursery at church – Wednesday night dinners started tonight!
Another trip to the dog park!
Exploring a box of Mom’s old stuff in the basement.
(Note the Trolls and Beanie Babies).
Workin’
I thought Alex’s love of balloons (see here) was just a phase. Tonight Alex proved me wrong. He couldn’t wait till dinner was over and he got his balloon. Then he ran around the house screaming, laughing, and jumping with it for the 30 minutes before bedtime.
Sharing powdered donuts with Riley!
(Note the googly eyes courtesy of Wade.)
We’ve been reading lots of books about snow lately (at Alex’s request). The minute I pulled out a hat for him, he also requested a scarf!
Alex doesn’t see these as rainy days. He sees them as umbrella days!
Alex and I took Madison to the dog park this afternoon.
(I knew it had been a while, but based on this picture it was 2009. Poor Madison.)
An indoor picnic makes left-overs taste much better!
Open for business!
A few weeks ago Alex was painting in the shower and I told him it was “gorgeous”. It was obviously an unfamiliar word to him and he thought I had named his picture. He even cried when “gorgeous went away”. Tonight he was painting and said, “I draw gorgeous.”
Entertaining himself while Mom cooks dinner.
Books in front of the fire.
Alex wakes up happy and ready to go in the mornings. After nap he is a mess – cranky, whinny, etc. Today was the exception. He woke up from his nap ready to play and his favorite game? Napping in his sleeping bag.
A perfect fall day ended in a walk to the park.
Amber invited us over for raking and leaf-pile jumping. Alex had a lot more fun throwing leaves on me!
In the last few weeks I have noticed Alex making up new words. He currently uses the word “lawming” to replace mowing. My guess is a combination of “lawn” and “mowing”?
Today we tried out window markers!
(For anyone noting that my son is wearing winter pajamas in this crazy warm weather – we watched Cars last night and he had to wear the pajamas with Lighting McQueen)
Alex got to hold a baby bunny and didn’t want to put it down!
Granny and Pop randomly send Alex a box of goodies. Most of the time a toy from Wade’s childhood is included. Alex found this truck in the box today and has loved playing with it.
Alex loves to climb onto the radiator in the dining room, raise the window, and wave good-bye to Wade every morning as he leaves for work. This morning he must have been leaning out on the screen because when he turned around he had a dirty nose. (Which probably means I should clean my screens.)
Best friends working on cars.
One of Alex’s first finger foods was green beans straight from the can (room temperature). He asked me to open a can today and then started eating. I guess not much has changed. He still eats them like french fries.
Alex’s “Happiest Place On Earth”.
If you look closely you will see two things. 1) A dab of shaving cream on Alex’s cheek. He was interested in Wade shaving and got a little. 2.) A Curious George band-aid on his shirt. He has a tiny cut on his face and wanted a band-aid. Then he refused to have it on his skin and wanted it on his shirt.
