I’m so thankful I have these guys to fight the monsters that keep appearing in my kitchen.
Month: July 2017
Kaitlyn got a belated birthday gift in the mail – a new sprinkler. She was not hearing me when I said it was cold (60s) and rainy. I finally let her put her bathing suit on and go outside to see if it was too cold. She decided to wait till tomorrow.
My favorite kind of morning.
(Because this is typical and happens all the time.)
Wade has always been very anti-pools (and probably would still prefer if we didn’t have one). However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how much fun he has in the pool with the kids. We often swim after Kaitlyn’s nap so we are in the pool when Wade gets home from work. He’ll run upstairs to change and then join us for a little bit before we all start thinking about dinner.
Park playdate.
Pool time.
Napping – may she never give it up.
These days pretty much anything goes. We can’t find the TiVo or the DVD player, but we found my computer. A movie with lunch while Mom keeps working on boxes.
It’s so nice and quiet the minute we get back from the library.

She’s wearing a Queen Elsa dress but I’m getting more of a Cinderella feel.
We’ve had a lot of crazy mail delivery due to the move, forwarding mail, setting up mail, etc. Kaitlyn has loved getting belated birthday cards and gifts (that should have reached her well before we moved). Today she got a card from B and Mary. I knew she was carrying it around but I was shocked when I went in to check on her later and she was hugging the card in her sleep. I never saw the card in her room or how she got it in her bed.
Anything goes race with the neighbors.
Because, really, who doesn’t get this excited for cinnamon toast?
Dancing in the rain.
Deep thoughts.
Afternoon snuggles and reading.
This one came to snuggle about 6 am and slept in my bed with me till almost 10!?!?! She normally gets up at 6:45, just like clockwork. In fact, we’re all up by 7:15 at the latest.
Reggie spent about 10 days with one of Wade’s co-workers while we were moving and getting settled. He’s been home a few days and doesn’t seem to be handling the heat very well. Our house doesn’t have air conditioning and the window AC units we have from previous houses haven’t arrived yet (there is a second truck of things arriving in a week or so). Wade took him to the local vet hospital and is trying to get some fluids into him.
The boys had a blast seeing who could jump the furthest into the pool today.
Summer!!
A little girl with a pink bow and a princess dress reading Superman. Love it!
Madison finally decided to join in the swimming today!
Our new favorite afternoon activity.
Happy 4th of July!!
We are still rather unsettled so the extent of our holiday celebrating was an afternoon in the pool. We played and invited a few neighbors over and generally had a relaxing day.
The kids couldn’t wait to try out the pool this morning!

Kaitlyn turns 3 today. I’m still a little bit in shock, but she’s been ready for her birthday for months (and months and months). The minute she walked in the door she ran to see her “pink” cake. We had a quick dinner and then we had presents and cake.
They are on their way to the new house and should be here in time for dinner!
(I know girl clothes can be confusing, but note that Kaitlyn has on a nightgown and wore it all day. I’m not really surprised Wade made the mistake – anyone could – but I am surprised Kaitlyn didn’t say something. She knows the difference and tends to care about her clothes.)
They are on their way to Boston!
