Today was a pool day in Milwaukee. I always forget how much I have missed Hoyt until we return. The kids had a blast and played the morning away.
I always love a good comparison. Here are the big boys in 2014 and then again in 2016.

We are back home from a visit to Kentucky and jumped right back into our old routine. Hello Beach. Hello Neighbors.
A drive to Milwaukee after a morning at the beach – nap time!
Iamginext – his current favorite toy maker.
We made the long drive home and now they just want to play in a box.
Mid-tantrum.
Teague loves strawberry freezer jam. I haven’t made it in years but I have been steadily bringing jars home from KY when we run out. We used all of ours early this summer and Teague not only wanted more, he wanted to help make it. I thought this would be a lot of fun for he and Gram to do together and today they did just that!
Back to the pool – this time with Harper!
Aunt Lissy brought donuts – chocolate ones!
Gram is good with everybody trying new things.
Here is just some of the chaos that happens at Gram’s house.
We are always up early but today we actually got dressed on the early side to meet Melissa and the girls at their new house. They haven’t officially moved in yet, but Harper is catching the bus there every morning. (Note how excited Alex is to have his picture taken!)
Kaitlyn watches everything Mackenzie does and copies in her own way. Cousins are the best.
Cousins playing tag.
Pool time!
Pool time!
Picking and agreeing on just one book is almost impossible.
Gram had ice cream for dessert.
We had Milwaukee friends join us at the beach today!
Then for the first time this summer, both boys feel asleep on the couch while I was putting Kaitlyn down for her nap.
Milwaukee friends come to the beach.
Best buds reunited for an evening.
Neighbors.
This is currently one of Kaitlyn’s favorite toys. Maybe the rocket ship bed should go in her room…
I’m pretty sure Kaitlyn is wondering why I abandoned her and let Teague be in charge of her fate.
Wade and I decided an afternoon hike would be fun. The boys quickly decided it was too hot, buggy, and they were tired. We persevered and reached the end (and then told them it was a one-way trail and they had to hike back out).
Group painting project – not one of my better ideas.
Such a different reaction to the sprinkler pad than last year (see here).
Today was Alex’s last day of Winshape camp. Family and friends were invited to spend the morning participating.
After watching a video on Winshape, I am even more impressed. Chick-fil-a does some wonderful things and this camp is definitely one of them! There were complimentary chicken biscuits handed out at dropoff, there were gift cards distributed almost daily, and today lunch was on Chick-fil-a – chicken sandwiches for everyone!!
The best part of this picture is that I took it from my chair on the back deck where I sat reading and enjoying the sun as the kids entertained themselves – for over an hour.
Kaitlyn has discovered Playmobil in recent weeks. She loves to get out the bin and set up the train with all the people. I love seeing it enjoyed with by a third child. It’s one of my favorite toy companies.
Wade introduced Alex to the original Nintendo tonight – TMNT.
Sand cone anyone?
This one is always dancing to her own beat.
Is it a wonder shoes are always missing? I would never in a million years have thought to look in Kaitlyn’s toy kitchen for her sandals, but they do fit nicely on the shelf.
A picture from camp.
Lazy morning.
Kaitlyn’s kitchen is getting a phone.
Alex started camp yesterday and is gone from 8-5. I’m trying to convince Teague not to tell Alex every single fun thing he misses, but that isn’t going so well. Alex really enjoys camp until he comes home and hears about our day. Today we made plans for the beach – here’s hoping Alex isn’t too upset.
They sell snow cones as Alex is leaving camp. I treated the boys each to one today.
My new favorite picture of Teague.
We love the beach and especially the beach with friends.
Wade has been talking about building a tree house all summer. Yesterday, he and his dad worked on the design. Today they started digging post holes!
Today Alex started Winshape camp. So far he seems to love it – just don’t tell him that Teague played with Leah today.
Pop lends a helping hand.
