The countdown to the end of school has begun. Crazy hair day.
Teague
World’s best big brother right there.
Wade called me yesterday to ask me if I had used his amazon account to order some baseball stuff. I said no but asked what kind of stuff. It was baseball socks. He cancelled the order, but ended up having to cancel five more orders for socks. Today I walked into the kitchen to find Teague ordering “socks” from our Amazon Echo. Thank you funny TV commercials.
I went to check the laundry and returned to find Teague cutting up his grilled cheese so Kaitlyn could have a bite.
(The funny part here is I never cut her’s up in bite size pieces.)
I took Kaitlyn up for her nap and returned to find these two.
This is how Sundays should always look.
To make the weekend even more special I got to spend Mother’s Day with my Mother. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms.
The most excited race crew around.
(To be clear – this was at the beginning of the races.)
We quickly changed out of our party clothes, put Kaitlyn down for her nap, and rushed to the races.
We made the drive to Paducah yesterday for a birthday party and a drag race. It worked out perfectly that my niece is celebrating her third birthday this morning and my dad has a drag race this evening (see next post). It is going to be one packed weekend!
Mackenzie wanted a Princess Sophia birthday and my sister delivered!
Gram and her five.
One of their happy places at Gram’s house.
Teague fell asleep literally watching the clock and waiting for Leah to come play. She showed up about 5 minutes after he zonked out.
Spring weather always amazes me. The kids were dressed in long sleeves and pants in the morning for school.
By the time Alex got home from school they were begging me for swim suits.
Teague went 6 weeks without sucking his thumb and chose this Lego as his prize. Yay Teague!
Teague is still taking swim lessons with Leah one day a week. We started with semi-private lessons. Then we added in two of her friends for a session. Then we added in two of Teague’s friends for a session. Their teacher is awesome. Teague went from a boy who liked to be in the water to a boy who likes to swim and will voluntarily put his face in the water. (I wasn’t sure this would ever happen and that he might only learn to tolerate it.) He’s come such a long way and I can’t wait to see his swimming develop now!
Teague requested edamame for lunch. Then he ate every single one before I could ask for a bite.
When he first saw a nanny’s pet snake at soccer practice he wouldn’t go near it. By the end of practice he was holding it.
(Kaitlyn was one of the first to pet it.)
These guys are getting tired of the technical difficulties that come before skyping with Granny and Pop.
Today the kids talked Wade into donuts for breakfast. We decided to try out the spiral donut place we saw in downtown Barrington – Spring Donuts. The kids loved watching the donuts being made and talking to the other customers in the quaint little shop.
We decided to try out the spiral donut shop in downtown Barrington. The boys picked the topping and can’t wait to dig in!
They call this game, “The Kaitlyn Express.” He asks her if she wants a ride on the Kaitlyn Express. She runs and lays down on the blanket. Then he pulls her around the house until she falls off. Then they start the entire game over again.
Teague’s friends are fascinated with his talk of a “spy club.” Today they discovered a tiny patch of woods in the corner lot of their preschool and immediately named it the PreK Spy Club.
After school adventures.
Bedtime routines.
One of these two was more into the snuggle than the other.
First watermelon of the season!
We had a fabulous day today and everybody wanted to stay outside after school and enjoy the sun.
By evening we had a freak storm with hail. Crazy days.
The box forts continue – but now the boys brought in their expert consultant from next door.
I got new patio furniture and the kids got boxes. Win win.
Teague has come an amazing way in his reading this year. I am so proud of him and can’t wait till we finish his program.
We have awesome pets.
(You would agree if you saw the next 8 pictures in this series.)
Teague and Leah enjoying their afternoon before the big kids get home from school.
He’s practicing his writing on the iPad. It turns out that is WAY more fun than using paper and pencil.
Today I celebrated turning 37. There were lots of presents, handmade paintings by my kids, sushi, and a fabulous chocolate cake. Perfect!
Three monkeys in a bed.
I can’t believe he hasn’t worn out the tires on this tractor. Daily. Hourly. Round and round.
Then he pushes Kaitlyn when she wants a turn.
Two things.
1.) It is much too cold for bathing suits and water guns, but they had a blast.
2.) This is the day I realized I could no longer buy water guns and outside toys in twos. We definitely need at least three (and four before long) of these things.
Wade decided to cut down a second tree yesterday. (This one in our backyard.) Today he worked to get to get it chopped up and used some of the wood to create a fire pit. The kids started off helping Wade and quickly decided water guns sounded a lot more fun. (We have got to get some more water guns. There is always an odd man out!)
We ended the day with hot dogs and s’mores. Spring is here!
The talented Mr. Teague.
I specifically told them they could play anywhere but Kaitlyn’s room, but they look so darn cute…
Alex, Leah, and Teague showed up in my kitchen during Kaitlyn’s nap and asked for cleaning supplies. I was a little suspicious and asked what they wanted to clean. They informed me my house was dirty and they wanted to clean it. I decided to humor them with sponges and buckets. I came outside to find them cleaning the side of the garage and they continued for the rest of the day (at least a couple of hours)!
They decided the Spy Club needed a gate.
Teague and his buddies. Plotting.
Bedtime.
Teague is always so excited when I show up as Mystery Reader. Thankfully his teachers are awesome and entertain Kaitlyn while I do the reading. Today she took every single toy off the shelves in the time it took me to read these two books.
These two are the best of friends.
Me and my crazies.
The boys are becoming pros at helping with the cheese dip making. Awesome!
Wade decided to cut down a tree in our front yard and these little lumberjacks claimed the wood for their spy club.
