Just hanging out in the locker room during swim lessons for the boys.
Kaitlyn
I think I just interrupted an important phone call..
Painting rocks – the new best thing.
Walking to the bus stop – always a special treat when Daddy joins us.
Drawing hand and feet outlines.
Beaching it.
This one and her dress up.
Her favorite books are the First Look & Find. They entertain her for hours.
This one fought with me over my purse this morning. I finally found one that she would agree to carry instead of mine. Note that the first thing she had to put in it was her lovey.
This girl loves the rice box.
(Which I realized has been around since 2013.)
Another parenting first for me – giving up when my child chooses their own clothes and I don’t necessarily approve. She wanted to wear her “dress” and pitched a fit when I tried to pick out something else. I finally decided it didn’t really matter and she’d be happy.
(Of course the boys still don’t care what they wear and prefer to have me pick out their clothes.)
This is the first time in 7 years of parenting that I have given out a bandaid without it being needed. Kaitlyn begged for it the entire day and I kept telling her, “You aren’t hurt. There’s no blood. No band-aid.” As we were driving to get Teague she kept pointing to her leg and saying “I hurt” in the sweetest little voice. She got the band-aid…
Boxes really are the best toys.
Hoyt Pool in Milwaukee with our favorite Tosa neighbors.
A drive to Milwaukee after a morning at the beach – nap time!
Mid-tantrum.
Gram is good with everybody trying new things.
We are always up early but today we actually got dressed on the early side to meet Melissa and the girls at their new house. They haven’t officially moved in yet, but Harper is catching the bus there every morning. (Note how excited Alex is to have his picture taken!)
Pool time!
Gram had ice cream for dessert.
Milwaukee friends come to the beach.
This is currently one of Kaitlyn’s favorite toys. Maybe the rocket ship bed should go in her room…
I’m pretty sure Kaitlyn is wondering why I abandoned her and let Teague be in charge of her fate.
Such a different reaction to the sprinkler pad than last year (see here).
The best part of this picture is that I took it from my chair on the back deck where I sat reading and enjoying the sun as the kids entertained themselves – for over an hour.
This one is always dancing to her own beat.
Kaitlyn’s kitchen is getting a phone.
We love the beach and especially the beach with friends.
Pop lends a helping hand.
Pop is here to read the bedtime story.
Pop comes up with the best games.
They love to play in the shop. Today Wade encouraged them to clean up after they were done.
Picnic with her babies.
Cut. Cut. Cut.
(Today I decided to see if all her cutting had taught her anything useful.)
We took a trip to Milwaukee and spent the morning at the pool!
This cracks me up because neither of them ever wears slippers, but today they both wanted them.
Testing out the boys’ new room.
I took this picture mostly for the railroad track. No one appreciates the time I spend to build the track on demand and then it is either played with for a few minutes and forgotten or immediately destroyed. The life of a mom is hard.
Birthday breakfast celebration for Granny!
(The only picture of the kids taken today. The full story on my blog – here)
A little bonding time with Aunt Emmy.
It’s a water-kind of day.
That night I made everyone pose for a group picture.
(Can’t you feel the excitement coming from my boys?)
Feeding fish.
Kaitlyn gets one more Birthday celebration with Wade’s family.
(Note the tiny wooden bowls – made by Jerry for Kaitlyn’s new play kitchen.)
Fearless.
(Alex never made it off the ground into the treehouse. Teague had to be coached. This one just started climbing.)
Let vacation begin!
That also means lots of nights in strange beds and strange rooms…
Shower? Why would she need a shower? She made sure to thoroughly scrub her hair with sand.
Smelling the flowers.
(Or destroying them – whichever sounds more like a 2 year old.)
Worn out from piling up pillows.
Jumping pictures might be even better.
