9:02 pm (The homework was supposed to be done immediately after school.)

We started decorating for Christmas tonight. (I like to have the Christmas decorations up when we get back into town from visiting family for Thanksgiving.) Ben quickly decided to try on all the Christmas hats at one time.
When I took Alex shopping for clothes this fall, I learned that he loved purple. I have no idea if this was a new thing, or simply that it’s an “in” color and now easy to find purple clothes.
The best days are homework free and Teague can read all he wants without interruption.
Everyday after school, Kaitlyn has a yogurt and immediately starts her homework (on her iPad). If only it were that easy with all the kids.
Typical post-shower silliness.
This past summer, Ben decided to let his hair grow. He wanted a ponytail like Kaitlyn (see here). After about 4-5 months, he has decided (with no prompting from me) to get a haircut.

I will admit there were parts of the longer hair I really liked. Because of that, we decided to keep his hair longer than we did before.
Alex traded coding time for cooking dinner. I am enjoying these deals more and more.
No big deal – just learning a new game.
Big changes in the Burch household. These kiddos are each carrying their own swim bags for the first time.
Sometimes when the big kids are at school, Ben convinces me to play games. We get some snacks, pull out his favorites games and have a little fun.
Teague joined the bell choir this year, but it is a very small bell choir. They started the year with three ringers, but at some point the number dropped down to two. They kept practicing and hoping to recruit more kids. Sadly that hasn’t happened. Wade has pitched in to practice with them and today they had their first performance. Teague did a great job and it was fun to see him up front!
Sunday roundup.
Saturday chore lists.
Wade likes to tweak things and wait to see how long it takes people to notice. He often has quite a bit of scruff before he shaves, but sometimes he shaves a mustache and waits to see if anyone notices (sometimes it does take us a little while). Today, I walked through the house and realized I had a new addition to my gallery wall. Evidently Wade got picked for an item on our local Facebook Buy Nothing page.
This is 13.
Lazy Fridays when there is no school.
We ended up with another bird in the house (see here), but this one was not my fault. This bird flew in the front door tonight when Wade opened the door. Alex blocked off the main opening, and I got a chair and blocked off the space between the door and the ceiling. Wade used a broom to convince the bird to fly towards the door. Thankfully the bird did choose to fly outside!
A little morning silliness.
Sometimes mornings still come a little early.
Ben and I stopped by the library today. Of course we read our books over lunch.
It was agreed that cookies were needed. Alex volunteered to bake.
A boy and his cat.
Kaitlyn had her cheer showcase tonight – a performance for family and friends! Cheer is officially over.
This boy still naps about 3 hours a day and if you saw how active he is during the day you would understand why!
At the end of cheer season, parents and friends are invited to a special performance by all the cheer teams. The girls perform their routines, do a few stunts, and show off any special talents. This year a few football players appeared at the end and gave flowers to all of the cheerleaders. It was equally sweet to see by the adults and obviously awkward for the poor preteen football players!

The kids had the day off from school (Thank you Election Day). Kaitlyn started the day by getting a cavity filled. After that we picked up one of her friends and headed to the Ecotarium for a day of fun. The kids would have stayed till closing time, but their favorite activity was definitely the wind tunnel.
Alex has been looking for extra jobs in exchange for extra electronics time to code. Tonight I traded him cooking dinner for time to code.
Last minute school morning prep.

Ben being Ben.
Sunday roundup.
Today was Kaitlyn’s last soccer game for the fall. I never dreamed it would be in the 70s and the entire team would be in shorts! Her team had a great season and she can’t wait to try out winter soccer.
He likes to pretend he is shocked and upset by the chores on his Saturday chore list.
I mentioned earlier in the week how Alex always made his bed, Teague is the opposite. He only makes his bed on Saturday, the day it is required along with room cleaning. Later today this room will look amazing.
Birthday parties are the best.
Morning artwork.
Ben and Kaitlyn still loves boxes. This Kohl’s box was even better because it came with huge letters begging to be colored.
It appears that Ben has picked up some habits from his older siblings. I happened to see this under this bed today. Why do my kids hide wrappers under their beds? Do they actually eat the snacks under their beds too?!?
Alex decided to start eating breakfast again. The breakfast of choice is English muffins because he can eat them while he walks to school.
Lazy Friday afternoon.
Evidently you don’t need light to pack your snack for school…
Evening down time.
Alex was having a blast trying to pelt Ben with those two balls. (This is why Ben built the pillow shield.)
