Alex has discovered numerous free apps that have huge databases of comics. He reads them all the time. The best is when I hear insane laughing from another room and now exactly why.

Enjoying the day…
When Kaitlyn got home from school, she joined Ben and they played babies for over two hours. (She hasn’t touched a doll on her own in years.)
We have had a lot of trouble with Ben taking things from Kaitlyn’s room. One of the items that he keeps taking is babies and baby items. Kaitlyn agreed to let Ben have her babies in the hopes of keeping him out of her room. Today we went and bought this bunk bed to help store the babies in his room.
Today it was Ben’s turn to meet his teacher for the new school year. We met Ms. Laura and she seems great. We ran into some old friends from Kaitlyn’s first ballet class and their son is going to be in Ben’s class too. He seems ready for school and I know I won’t mind having our regular schedule in place!
First day of 8th grade!
First day of 6th grade!
First day of 2nd grade!
He always puts his own tweak on everything – even bedtime attire.
Today was the first day of school for the big kids. It’s the first day Kaitlyn had to be up early, but it’s also the first year she is at the same school as Teague. Everyone got up without problem, let me take my traditional first day of school morning pictures, and made it to school on time. Alex was a little bummed at the end of the day because of some new school policies and schedule changes, but otherwise everyone had good days.
One last movie night before school starts tomorrow.
School starts tomorrow so today the elementary kids got to meet their teachers. Funny enough, Alex was bemoaning the fact that he didn’t get to visit his school and get a head start on finding his classrooms.
The constant battle with Alex – towel on the bedroom floor vs. towel on the towel rack in the bathroom.
Teague made sushi for dinner.
Kaitlyn made dumplings for dinner.
Sunday afternoon snuggles.
Everyone had a free night so Kaitlyn and Teague decided to cook. Teague was in charge of sushi and Kaitlyn decided on dumplings. Those are both family favorites and they did a great job!
Kaitlyn and her cheer team had their first “real” football game to cheer. Thankfully it was a home game. I dropped her off for their hour of practice beforehand. I did a super fast grocery run and then got back just in time to watch the girls cheer for the game.
Popcorn got left off of my grocery list so Alex experimented with old-school.
Saturday morning cartoons.
The first step to taking over cat litter duty.
I recently bought Kaitlyn a transfer book. She loves it.
Ben has been begging Alex to draw him a pirate ship. Alex finally gave in today.
Today Kaitlyn, Ben, and I joined some friends at a place we had never been. It’s a combination splash pad and small beach. It was perfect for our group.
Alex has been working on his drawing faces recently.
Learning new skills today.
We checked out a new beach/splash pad today and had a blast.

Alex ordered some new “drawing” gloves and was so excited when they arrived today.
Teague decided the morning called for cinnamon donut holes.
Kaitlyn is practicing her “flying” skills in cheer.
This boy loves his tomatoes.
Kaitlyn moved up a level in cheer this year and it’s crazy. Practices went from one hour to two. Instead of two days a week, they practice three times a week. They also have a larger group with bigger girls so they are attempting more advanced routines. Kaitlyn is one of the smaller girls and has always loved being a “flyer.” That means she gets lifted up in the routines. It also means a ton of practice, which so far has not been an issue and has brought zero complaints.
The other thing I have enjoyed about cheer is how the older girls treat the younger ones. From the first year Kaitlyn cheered (four years ago), they have been awesome about welcoming the younger girls, teaching them, and including them. I would even understand if they were indifferent to them, but they go out of their way to include them. It makes such a difference to girls who are nervous or unsure in the beginning.
Alex learned a really important laundry lesson. If you leave your wet clothes in the washing machine too long, they stink at the end.
Cookies coming right up!
Kaitlyn’s favorite place to hang out today was this box.
I sent Ben upstairs to change clothes. He was gone a suspiciously long time so I went to investigate. When I tried to hurry him along, his response was, “This is a good part. I only have a few more pages.” He’s definitely my child!
Ben convinced Kaitlyn to play dolls this morning and it was adorable. She had hers all boxed up and got it down out of her closet to play with him. Kaitlyn even helped “Little Ben” get dressed.
My kids have been looking forward to this day all summer. It was the day we washed windows and baseboards! Everybody helped and it only took a few hours with the promise of a movie at the movie theater later in the week plus popcorn and candy.

I left this one in the upstairs bathroom with his clothes and instructions to get dressed. When I turned around, this is what I saw. (Ben has a real problem with “listening.”)
Today was a wonderful, lazy Sunday. We spent most of the day outside and the kids joined us for most of the afternoon. Kaitlyn has been loving the speaker Wade hooked up to her iPad. Now she carries both with her everywhere so she can listen to her music constantly (usually soundtracks to the Zombie and Descendant movies).
Sunday roundup.
Kaitlyn had her first cheerleading event today – a Football and Cheerleading Jamboree. Thankfully she only had to cheer for one game, but it was 30 minutes away and HOT. Her team did a great job and it was fun to watch them cheer together for the first time.
Alex wanted to show off his cheerleading skills too.
Kaitlyn had her first Cheer event today. (They are still waiting for uniforms to arrive, but t-shirts and bows are here!)
Saturday morning snuggles
I got a text from Alex saying “Come to my room with your camera.”
Super Teague!
