The kids had a snow day and we all loved it! I was pleasantly surprised when Alex came outside with us and then even stayed and played the entire time. (This hasn’t happened in a few years.)
Month: January 2022
Ben had a playdate today with one of his besties. In all my years of playdates, this is the first one where the kids ended up in the tub! The kids had a great time and the moms did too.
I saw this the other day and nothing sums up Alex better. He has worn a black hoodie as a jacket all winter long. He did get a few new ones for Christmas that he has started alternating but NEVER a real jacket.
Teague has recently started ski lessons and loves his new sport! I can’t wait to have someone on the ski slopes with me.
These goons.
Thank you notes – everyone’s favorite task after Christmas.
Ben had fun entertaining himself in my office while I was trying to get a few things done on the computer.
Ben’s latest obsession is these pinwheels, but of course in our house they are weapons. Ninja in training.
Leftovers are pretty common in our house – at least every few nights we have a leftover night to clean out the fridge. Nobody complains too much about them (except maybe Mom). We always have an extra few nights of leftovers after company leaves so we started tonight – everybody chooses their favorites.
The kids were pretty excited to go to bed tonight once they realized Pop had hidden his $20 in their bed when he left.

This was our last day with Granny and Pop and we spent it doing more of the same – games, reading, and cooking. We have had a great visit and are so sorry to see them go.
Alex has been doing a lot of reading lately. He got the fist book of a new series for Christmas and hasn’t stopped yet. Thankfully it is a 7 book series.
Pop introduced the kids to “Angry Birds.”
Church has been an adventure since COVID. As a family, we didn’t return to in-person worship until there was Sunday school for the kids. That has been rather hit or miss. About half of the time, we are notified in advance, but today we got to church and realized there wouldn’t be anything for Ben and Kaitlyn outside of the sanctuary. I always have a bag of tricks with me, but Ben was actually content to sit in Granny’s lap most of the service. Our pastor loves kids and his children’s sermon involved a fun hat which someone Kaitlyn ended up bringing home….
Granny and Pop spent the day trying to spend time with everybody – which can get a little tricky in our house. We have discovered the best way to entertain the masses is with games. Kaitlyn is getting really good at Checkers and Teague always loves Jenga. We had a lazy late afternoon of football watching and Pop’s afternoon was made when Ben took a nap in his lap.
