Wade was working in his shop this afternoon and had two helpers. He was attempting to hook up his dust collection system and the kids were more than happy to help him test out the suction.
Month: January 2020
The entire family is enjoying The Mandalorian.
(Do you understand how amazing it is that our entire family is watching a tv show together?!?)
Sitting in a waiting room with Alex..
Teague has been here.
They dressed themselves to play outside in the cold. Evidently pants are optional.
Ben and I spent the morning at a local play place with some moms in our local Mom’s Club. Ben quickly found a friend and they spent the entire morning happily playing.
This is pretty typical. One overcompensates for the cold and one doesn’t feel it at all.
What a face..
Ben is so ready for dinner.
I try not to keep the markers under lock and key, but I am tempted. I have removed all Sharpies from the main floors of the house. There are only a few in Wade’s shop that hopefully no one knows exist.
I decided to check Alex’s progress. He’s added quite a bit.
Napping.
Practicing her reading.
Doesn’t everyone wear a sparkly pink cowboy hat to shave?
Pepper was supposed to be Alex’s. Pepper voluntarily spends most of the day in Alex’s room while he is at school and after he is home. Alex feeds her. He is really good about taking her out if I ask or cleaning up her messes if I ask. However, as soon as Alex goes to bed, this is what happens.
A very rare sight these days – Alex playing with toys. Will it be the last?
Fort building pros.
This one cracks me up. All of the apparel was his choice, but I was quick to agree.
Saturday cartoons on Sunday.
Ben loves to color, but he has to be supervised for obvious reasons. The entire family tries to convince him that crayons are much better than markers, but he hasn’t been fooled. He only wants markers.
He thinks this is funny. Until he throws it and I get mad because it hits my camera…
More pillow forts and couch jumping.
Ben and I took a field trip with some local moms to a the Children’s Museum in RI. I had been once before and knew it was perfect for Ben’s age (not so much for Alex and Teague’s age). Ben enjoyed a lot of the activities but loved the water room. (I came prepared with rain boots and an extra change of clothes.)
Today I discovered Alex has been using his roller shade as a sketch pad. It’s so creative I can’t even be mad.
(Plus they are so horrible and on my list to replace)
Brothers.
It was a slow morning with lots of toys everywhere. (Just like I like it…)

No idea… But it was hilarious.
Teague disappeared for a while and when I went to find him, he was hibernating in his bed. I can’t say I blame him.
Where did this teenager come from?
Ben is spending the morning designing outfits – courtesy of Kaitlyn’s outfit creator. The big boys didn’t have so many options without a big sister.
Evidently tonight called for another pillow fort and couch bouncing session. I don’t mind a bit and hope they remember these things some day.
This one spends more and more time in his room. I kind of miss his face..
Teague’s drawings are always a sight to behold.
Daddy-daughter shenanigans while they wait for the last bit of dinner to be ready.
He’s ready and waiting for bedtime books.
These two love to create an obstacle course in my kitchen. They move the barstools, Ben’s learning tower, and then grab our stepping stones. Thankfully this all occurs on the other side of the kitchen island and keeps them entertained while I make breakfast.
It’s just the back of the heads, but look how cute everyone is all snuggled up on the couch together.
The love of trains is still going strong.
I was cleaning Alex’s room and happened upon what must be his bucket list. By far my favorite is “Become a ninja.”
(As a mom, I really hope his spelling improves. However, I always want to remember how bad it was and for sooo many years.)
These three rarely cooperate or play together but they had the cutest snowball fight and came out in smiles instead of tears. Amazing!
Did somebody say snowball fight?
Alex is our master of plans. He hasn’t come up with a big plan in a while, but today he came home and wanted to have an epic snowball fight. He quickly convinced Teague and Kaitlyn to join in the fun. In no time at all, they had a huge pile of snowballs and were full of laughs.
Snow Day!
Snow Day!
Snow Day!
Snow day!
My favorite snow days are on a Saturday or Sunday. Then Wade is home to play in the snow with us! Ben was fascinated with the snow blower and happy to follow Wade around. Alex actually hung outside with us for a significant amount of time. Pepper even played fetch for quite a while. It was an awesome day with my favorite people in the snow.
Kaitlyn has been asking to take gymnastics for a while, but I told her it had to wait till Cheer was over. January seemed like the perfect month to start something new! She got some new leotards (is that what you call them?) for Christmas and the promise of lessons. Her first one was today and she was super excited to head out the door!
