She is supposed to be reading, but somehow she ended up with my phone…
Month: September 2019
One of our good friends brought Ben a new bike!
Sometimes we get the most amazing sunsets in our backyard.
Typical run to Bj’s Warehouse.
Today was a day for inventions and bike riding – sometimes on the wrong bike!
Alex is so desperate to play Clash of Clans (his current favorite video game) that he is trying to get Kaitlyn hooked on it.
These two decided to make pretzels today.
(Thank you Raddish kids.)
Well hello there.
Wade was working hard on the barn today and got lots of extra help from the kids. (Princess Kaitlyn was definitely the best – she wanted to help so badly. But she didn’t want to get her dress dirty.)
Reader.
I’ve been to a lot of soccer games, but never one in the pouring rain. It was an experience. And kind of fun to photograph.
Official Cheer pictures – in the new uniform.
This guy is the happiest.
This is the first year we have ventured into travel soccer. For the most part it has been fine. Wade and I have definitely had to juggle schedules, naps, etc but we have made it work. Teague has been late to a few games because finding some of these fields is…. interesting. Today was one of those days but even more so. We left early, but the field was still hard to find. We got there and he had been playing about 5 minutes when it started pouring. Thankfully I had no extra children with me so I got the umbrella out of my car and took pictures in the pouring rain (a first for me). The pictures were kind of fun and the kids didn’t seem to mind the rain.
It was a walk-for-ice-cream-kind of day.
Teague has loved having a new bike. Now if we could only teach him not to park it right behind my car…
It was a walk-for-ice-cream-kind of day.
I love every time one of my kids chooses to ride this little bike. It has been around a loooong time. Judy and Jerry gifted it to Alex his first Christmas. They said it came with their house when they bought it – 40 years ago.
While the big kids are at school – Ben gets to play. Thankfully the big boys don’t care about missing out on play places anymore and Ben is still too little to tell Kaitlyn where we have been. She would definitely rather go play than go to school. (Although she is loving Kindergarten.) Today we met up with some Mom friends and their littles for a play date at an indoor place not too far away. Ben seemed to love all fun options. I loved that it was all in one big room so I could sit and talk and easily keep an eye on Ben.
Ben has always been the world’s best eater. From the minute we moved into the house, Ben quickly discovered the raspberry patch in our backyard and has never been shy about helping himself. He quite often will simply sit down and commence eating. He will also eat them at any stage – underripe, overripe, just perfect. He was really excited to have company in the berry patch today.
Alex and another one of his grand plans.
Morning hugs.
Ben really wanted to help Teague make cookies. Teague wasn’t so sure he wanted the help.
After school snack for the boys.
(They get home an about 1.5 hours before Kaitlyn.)
Kaitlyn hates when Ben has a stinky diaper and it doesn’t get changed immediately.
Some days everything works out perfectly for everybody to be outside, in a good mood, waiting for Kaitlyn to get off the bus. Today Ben was awake. We had all decided that popcorn sounded like a wonderful snack. Alex even decided to hang outside with us for a while instead of disappearing into the cave of his room. The popcorn didn’t last long, but we’ll make more the minute Kaitlyn gets off her bus!
Kaitlyn has quickly made friends with the older girls at Cheer and loves seeing them each week.
Winding down for the day.
Picture day for Cheer.
(Although we got to pictures and were surprised by all new uniforms.)
All of my kids go through a phase where they are fascinated with Richard Scarry books. Ben has entered that phase.
Wade has a foot that has continued to give him trouble and after meeting with a foot doctor (see first x-ray) it was obvious why. After trying numerous different things, Wade finally had surgery on his toe. It was quite the day of getting everyone where they needed to be and then picking Wade up with 4 kids in tow. The second x-ray is Wade’s foot after surgery. We are all hoping it fixes all his foot pain.
Off to the bus stop.
Kaitlyn carries these four figurines everywhere. I find them in purses, backpacks, drawers, under her bedspread, etc. Always they are together.
Still stacking everything he can find.
I have seen a lot of soccer coaches over the years, but Kaitlyn’s two coaches for this fall are amazing. They learned the girls’ names immediately. They actually engage with the girls and play the games on a completely different energy level than any coaches I have encountered before. It’s so refreshing and fun to watch!
Patiently waiting for the rest of the family to get ready for church.
A perfect day for riding bikes.
A perfect day for riding bikes.
One of my favorite things is little kids in too-big bike helmets. Here is your daily dose.
This is the typical amount of mess that occurs in the time the bigger kids get for their Saturday morning TV. The deal is the big kids then have to clean up the mess. Fair is fair.
(Everybody is hoping Ben starts to like cartoons soon.)
This kid is definitely a lover and not a hater. (I also think he has played with the baby dolls Kaitlyn got for her birthday more than she has.)
Life of leisure.
“Hey Ben, wanna race?”
Breakfast for two.
Teague has a love-hate relationship with soccer. I always ask him if he wants to play when signups roll around. He says “yes” and I sign up. Then the season starts. He likes seeing his friends. He likes about 20% of the game part. Having to actually leave the house for games and practices – he hates. Engaging in the games is a toss up. Today at practice he begged to be goalie. You can see how that went.
This is what it looks like when I have to take all four kids to Teague’s soccer practice.
My kids have always helped set the table at dinner time. Ben has obviously been watching the big kids and wanted to help out today. I was impressed wit how much he had picked up by just watching.
Headed to catch the bus.
Morning came a little too early today.
This kid… He put the shoes on himself – one of his own and one of Kailtyn’s. He decided to pull out quite a bit of my table linens and then decided to get silverware too.
