Sleeping babies are the best.
Month: April 2019
These two disappeared upstairs and I only saw them for help with zippers during outfit changes. I had to beg them to eat lunch at 1:30. Thankfully they tolerated a few pictures along the way.
Ben rarely gets unhappy and even rarer is to see him throw an all out tantrum. Today it happened. I even took pictures because it was almost cute it happens so infrequently. He saw the big kids leave (with their backpacks) and could not handle the fact that he wasn’t going too. He tried in every way he knew how to tell me that he wanted to go. He wasn’t happy with my answers or my attempts to distract him. He even got his shoes and the only backpack he could reach and stood at the door screaming. Poor Ben. I felt horrible.
Not to worry. As with all 1 year olds, there is a secret weapon. Baby Shark on Alexa was able to distract him. (Unfortunately I then had to listen to it for the next 30 minutes.)
Tonight he made us churros. Delicious!
Nut jobs.
This toy has been around for all the kids and has always been a favorite. I still won’t be sorry when Ben has outgrown it. Noisy toys have their place but this one’s song has gotten quite old over the years.
Sometimes you just need to have your own personal cocoon for a while.
Alex – meet chores. Chores – meet Alex.
Cookie time!
Kaitlyn was introduced to my old She-Ra dolls and castle. She loves to disappear in to her room and play. It’s kind of fun for me that they are getting some love again.
Most people would be annoyed this was left in the middle of the floor. Ben is excited to have something to climb.
I knew all of Kaitlyn’s friends from preschool were attending story time on Tuesdays, but I have resisted signing up. I didn’t want to interfere with Ben’s morning nap. I also knew it was for Kaitlyn’s age and was worried Ben would be disruptive. Ben has finally given up his morning nap (mostly) and I decided to see how it went. Ben’s fairly disruptive but no one seems to bothered (probably because they are all my friends). The lady running the program even lets participate. The sad part is our library is about to undergo a huge renovation (starting this spring) so our story time will be put on hold till they can find a new location.
Alex has decided to 3D print as many Pokemon as possible – that means he has to find the files and get Wade to prep them to print. Fun times.
Tuesdays are for story time.
Ben has been stealing Teague’s breakfast again.
Ben was really good about entertaining himself for a while as I got a few things done. Then I wanted to take some pictures. Sometimes I try to get a child to look a certain direction by talking about an object. That backfired today because when I would mention an object instead of looking at it, Ben would want to point to it. I mentioned my head and he pointed to his head. Then I tried to put a lovey on my head and he got down and wanted to take the lovey and put it back where it belonged. I can’t win them all. I’m going to have to figure out some new tricks for Ben.
One of the more creative reading spots I have seen in a while.
One of them is better at pretending to sleep than the other, but they are both pretty cute.
Sometimes he sits so sweetly in my bedroom and allows me to get things done.
