Unicorn Cookies

We bought new cookie cutters last week and Kaitlyn couldn’t wait to try them out. Today was a quiet day at home and Ben was nice enough to take an extra long afternoon nap.

These days, we call it a win if his butt is in the seat.

Big News. Big Savings.

We have big news! In the world of savings accounts – Kaitlyn officially has her own. She took her money into the bank and opened her own account today. She was pretty excited to have one just like the big boys.

The Muffin Man

We love to bake in our house. We have lots of favorite recipes but we are always looking to try new ones too. Teague recently got a gingerbread muffin recipe from Raddish kids, but we hadn’t tried it for various reasons. Last week during our break, we had a ton of recipes on our to do list. This was one we finally attempted. Teague was happy to let Kaitlyn help and the muffins weren’t bad – although I doubt we’ll add them to our normal rotation. I was amused by Teague’s reaction to the smell of molasses. He had a very creative solution to the problem too!

Teague had a visit with the orthodontist today.

Ben was definitely here. (But where is he now?)

From The Unexpected Child

Kaitlyn looks like the sweet, calm, innocent child. However, she was my first child to get stitches (really staples) and tonight required our first trip to the ER (again for stitches). She was jumping in the laundry pile. (Why do my kids love this activity?!?) She miscalculated and hit the edge of a piece of furniture. I wouldn’t have taken her in except form Alex’s last run-in with stitches I learned that if it crosses the lip line then you are supposed to get stitches. So here we go. Thankfully it happened at almost the end of the day so Wade could just come home a little early to be with the other kids. Kaitlyn was a champ through the entire ordeal. It took quite a few hours but the hospital gave her a new stuffed animal and had an awesome staff!

Alex brought each family member a gift from his trip with Granny and Pop. Kaitlyn loves her necklace and couldn’t wait to wear it to school today.

This kid loves to read in front of the fire. I wonder which parent he gets that from?

These two disappeared on me and when I went to find them they were quietly reading books together.

Everybody Wins

When the kids pitch in and help make cheese dip – everybody wins. I don’t have to spend quite as much time getting the ingredients ready and we get to the yumminess just a little bit quicker. I keep hoping at some point that one of the kids will ask to make this recipe on their own, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Routines vs. Favorites

Almost every day Kaitlyn takes a shower with me. Then I dry her hair. Every once in a blue moon, Wade will dry her hair. He doesn’t do it quite right, which means I have to curl her hair afterwards, but she would still prefer to have her dry it. Daddy’s do it different – and that makes it special.

I love small towns! We ran into friends at the library today and stayed to play Legos for a while.

Junior Side Kick

Today was take your kid to work (at least at Bose). Since Alex is still in Orlando with Granny and Pop, and Kaitlyn is too young, Teague was the only kid that went with Wade. They had a good time together and I had a slightly quieter house than normal.

Happy Birthday Teague!

The second February birthday is here! We celebrated Teague all day long! Teague is lucky that his birthday always falls on either a weekend or break week so he gets a full day of celebration. We took advantage – birthday donuts, arcade and bouncing, take out dinner, and a special cake for dessert!

Chuck E. Cheese

What kind of break week would it be without a trip to Chuck E. Cheese?!? Today we played games and lunched at everyone’s favorite game place (mine too)!

Bouncing The Wiggles Out

I’m so thankful for my Mom’s group and the activities they planned this week. Today they had arranged for a private time at a local bounce place. We had never been and it seemed like a great time to check it out. It turned out to be a little too much for Ben, but Kaitlyn and Teague had a great time.

Hopeful Or Oblivious

There are so many ways that we have noticed Madison’s advanced years. She is still great at cleaning up the floor after the kids, but she just tends to stay put even after the kids have left the table. I’m not sure if she is hopeful they will come back or doesn’t notice when they have left…

Sunday coats – and they are all toggle coats. It might be that Mom loves toggle coats.

Bookworm

I went to check on Kaitlyn tonight and found she had a few extra items in bed with her. She must have decided to read herself a few extra books after lights out.
