We love to bake in our house. We have lots of favorite recipes but we are always looking to try new ones too. Teague recently got a gingerbread muffin recipe from Raddish kids, but we hadn’t tried it for various reasons. Last week during our break, we had a ton of recipes on our to do list. This was one we finally attempted. Teague was happy to let Kaitlyn help and the muffins weren’t bad – although I doubt we’ll add them to our normal rotation. I was amused by Teague’s reaction to the smell of molasses. He had a very creative solution to the problem too!
Kaitlyn looks like the sweet, calm, innocent child. However, she was my first child to get stitches (really staples) and tonight required our first trip to the ER (again for stitches). She was jumping in the laundry pile. (Why do my kids love this activity?!?) She miscalculated and hit the edge of a piece of furniture. I wouldn’t have taken her in except with Alex’s last run-in with stitches I learned that if a cut crosses the lip line you are supposed to get stitches. So here we go. Thankfully it happened at almost the end of the day so Wade could just come home a little early to be with the other kids. Kaitlyn was a champ through the entire ordeal. It took quite a few hours but the hospital gave her a new stuffed animal and had an awesome staff!
When the kids pitch in and help make cheese dip – everybody wins. I don’t have to spend quite as much time getting the ingredients ready and we get to the yumminess just a little bit quicker. I keep hoping at some point that one of the kids will ask to make this recipe on their own, but that hasn’t happened yet.
I’m so thankful for my Mom’s group and the activities they planned this week. Today they had arranged for a private time at a local bounce place. We had never been and it seemed like a great time to check it out. It turned out to be a little too much for Ben, but Kaitlyn and Teague had a great time.
