These two have the most different skin tones.
Month: September 2018
I used to feel that we spent all our time in the lobby area of taekwondo. Now we split time between there and the soccer fields. We have two soccer practices a week (for Teague) and two games a week (one for Teague and one for Kaitlyn). Keeping the children who are not participating entertained has become a challenge. Alex is usually good with a book. Ben is usually good with a snack. Kaitlyn thankfully often has a friend and tonight she discovered…..makeup.
This bad habit just can’t be kicked.
Soups on.
Today was all sparkles and giggles.
Kaitlyn has started to have an opinion about her clothing and her shoes. She really wanted to wear this pair of shoes today but it didn’t go with the dress she picked out. She chose to wear the dress and was supposed to put the shoes back in her closet. Instead I found them in her backpack. I wonder if she planned to change in the bathroom at school? (It starts so early…)
Cannon ball!
Today was so hot she drank all of her water and most of my drink.
Walking lesson (which Teague thinks he needs and Ben just likes the attention).
I always remember Sunday mornings getting ready for church being a little hectic as I was growing up. I’m always somewhat surprised that it’s just another day at our house that doesn’t require any special effort to get everyone out the door on time. (I’m sure this is due to the fact that our mornings start at 6:30 am) Ben sometimes misses a morning nap, but that happens a couple times a week due to our various activities anyway. Wade’s home so there is an extra pair of hands to make sure Teague’s showers actually end in a timely manner. The boys let me pick out their clothes and I sometimes even remember to do it the night before. A few weeks ago, Wade offered to dry Kaitlyn’s hair for me and that has a been a big help. Some days we actually have extra time before we need to leave!
September has proved to have the craziest weather! One day we are in jeans and the next we are in the pool swimming. Today it was sunny and warm and we swam! The name of the game today was – push everybody in!
Soccer sidelines.
Soccer Saturday.
Decisions.
I often find these two in the kennel together..
This boy hasn’t stopped moving since he was born. He started walking this week (at 9 months of age) and I finally caught a few steps on video.
Boys are gross (And I know I have posted a similar picture before. Boys are still gross.)
He loves his baby brother.
There are some definite perks to having your own pool. You can still swim well past the time when all public pool have closed.
Ben loves all the new toys around the house.
For those of you who don’t know the story, my husband and weddings rings have a long history. In our 14 years of marriage, he has had at least six rings (and very possibly nine). Wade and I were trying really hard to count up the number the other day and have lost count. Once we started buying them in bulk on Amazon (see here) keeping track lost some of its appeal. Wade tends to keep one at work, one in his car, and one in his drop zone in the kitchen. Then he can always grab one when he realizes he isn’t wearing one. I was a little humored today when I was straightening our bedroom to see three on his bedside table.
I rarely make it to the bus stop to greet the boys after school. I normally have at least one, if not two, napping. Today everyone was awake so we walked down with Pepper.
Kaitlyn was using Pepper’s toy to play tug with her. Pepper quickly became distracted by Kaitlyn’s skirt and this was the end of Kaitlyn’s skirt…
Hello blue eyes.
The coolest spider web was waiting for me on the back deck when I took Madison outside this morning.
The morning walk to the bus stop.
It’s obviously a very important phone call.
I almost wish he didn’t like yogurt..
This girl was born to dance.
After school snacks and books.
Kaitlyn is happy to hang out with me while Ben naps and I fold laundry. Today she just wanted to bring her umbrella along.
Another day. Another sink bath.
We have learned that if you come to the Little Tiger class on Mondays – you are the only student. Kaitlyn still isn’t sure if she likes this but today it meant she got to choose all the activities!
Enjoying some outside games.
We end up in the waiting area of Taekwondo for two hours because of kids in two different classes. Master Kim prefers no electronics (which I love) in the waiting area so there are lots of books and drawings.
Quiet time turned into nap time.
The tiniest Merrells.
(These are vintage too – Alex wore them.)
It has taken us over a year to try out the other local ice cream joint. It was yummy (but then who ever turns down ice cream?)!
Pepper has quickly figured out the best person for snacks.
It seems that fall Sundays are for soccer and ice cream.
Alex really wanted to see how Pepper would do in the pool. We tried to convince him she was a little young and that it was a little cold but he was so excited to try. (She was not a fan.)
Saturday soccer wears a boy out.
Wade was watching Tech play so we found Tech hats for the youngest two. Ben wasn’t so sure about wearing a hat so we had to keep his hands otherwise engaged.
Naptime is over!
Kaitlyn has gone from the girl who wouldn’t go past the steps to the girl who begs to swim every day, all day. She has begged to swim since early this morning – today it’s barely 65 degrees (and cloudy and windy). Our pool can be heated but isn’t currently. Kaitlyn’s daddy loves her so he agreed to go swimming with her. Note that I am in jeans and only came outside to take pictures. (I’m no fool and my love only extends so far. For example, I would save her from drowning but I won’t get in just to play.)
After school cookies are underway.
We are getting a new driveway today and Ben loves watching all the work going on outside the window.
The boys’ elementary school always has a food truck evening in the fall and this is the first year we have been able to attend. The boys ate with us and then quickly disappeared. Kaitlyn was content to hang out with us – at least until she got her pink cupcake.
Enjoying these last summer days!
