I was going through Ben’s diaper bag and found a bulletin from a previous Sunday. Even better when I noticed Teague’s handwritten note.
Month: March 2018
Some days there is an audience when you wake up from your nap.
Today we headed to Providence, RI. Out of all the ideas for a birthday adventure, Teague was sold on ice bumper cars. We reserved three cars and were hoping they would let Wade and I switch out while someone sat with Ben. There were two groups in our time slot and none after us. The nice lady in charge bumped us back and therefore let us have the ring to ourselves. We all had a blast! I can’t wait to go again sometime. We also found a playground with a ropes course theme and then stopped for pizza on the way home. Ben was a champ and literally napped the entire time. He didn’t get out of his car seat once.
Teague amazed us all by spinning donuts the entire time he was on the ice. I’m still not sure how he was able to walk straight when he got out of the car.
Teague’s birthday adventure of choice was ice bumper cars. It was awesome!
Today we went on a belated Birthday adventure to Providence, RI. Ben was awesome for our trip and didn’t need out of his carseat once.
We experienced our first Nor’easter yesterday. The day started overcast and rainy. By the middle of the day, there was strong wind and driving rain. By dinnertime, I was happy to be inside cooking dinner. We were getting the kids ready for bed around 8 last night when the power went out. We quickly realized it was only our house with no lights. Wade explored outside and found that two trees from the Land Trust next door had fallen on our power lines. Thankfully they mostly missed the house. We were getting all set up with flashlights and iPads when Wade remembers the sump pump. We’ve already had a minor basement flood when it got backed up. Our neighbor was nice enough to let us use his outdoor outlet and Wade got it running. After only 20 minutes, we already had standing water in one corner. Another neighbor offered a generator. We were set up with limited power by 11 pm. I went to bed and woke up this morning to full power. Wade said the guys showed up around 1 am and had the lines reconnected very quickly. Now we just have to cut some trees.
Kaitlyn is my pouter, or at least my child that uses her lower lip. Tonight she decided she didn’t want to eat dinner and was quite annoyed when we still made her sit at the table.
Our first Nor’eastern and we lost power! Two trees from the Land Trust next door fell into our yard and onto our power line. Thankfully my husband has a well stocked shop and we had enough flashlights and floodlights to carry on as usual.
(They had our power back on by 2 am.)
Finally Ben can hold his head up enough for the Bumbo. Now he can join in our crazy activities a little more.
We have always loved Dr. Hunter and been grateful for his help with Teague’s eyes. We have visited him numerous times over the years and I am still surprised and impressed with his interactions with Teague. At our first visit (Teague was 2), he talked to us in a serious, formal tone. Then he looked at Teague and conducted his exam in a Donald Duck voice. Today he answered all of Teague’s questions without brushing him off and showed him all the pictures he requested. (Pictures of Teague have been taken at every visit and are often reviewed at each appointment.) When Teague asked about his eyes, Dr. Hunter pulled out a model and explained all the parts in a child-friendly manner. I am always blown away by him at our visits.
Alex found someone at swim class that enjoys comics as much as he does.
This blue dog sits outside Dr. Hunter’s office. Teague has been visiting this guy for a lot of years and today he wanted a picture.
Rice Krispie treats were just the thing.
Ben is the most expressive of my children at this age. He just has to see your face and he breaks out in the biggest smiles and coos.
