Easter Egg Hunt And Brunch – Boston Style

I was pleasantly surprised when my neighbor invited us to a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt and brunch the day before Easter. We had a great time but it made me a little sad for our traditional hunt and brunch in Milwaukee.

The funniest picture of the day. I was wearing Ben in the ring sling and he fell asleep. I sat down on the porch and realized I had forgotten Ben’s shoes and his feet were probably cold. I started to zip my coat over his feet and realized I could zip it all the way up over him. I cocooned him inside my coat and he took an hour nap. Wade evidently took my picture at some point and I have the strangest looking profile!

Egg Dying

We’ve had a crazy last few weeks, but tonight we made time to dye Easter Eggs! Kaitlyn was so excited to be able to “do it myself” and Alex got creative with his mixing of colors. Teague just wanted blue eggs, and Ben slept through the majority of the process. It’s definitely a Burch tradition.

My kitchen floor is always a casualty when Alex is crafting.

When I have to throw out vegetables or produce, I often return it to the Earth. (Or just chuck it in the woods next door.)

Typical breakfast.

March 30, 2018

Ben has started playing with his feet. He doesn’t grab them with his hands yet, but he puts them together in the cutest ways.

A trip to the grocery store with all four is always an adventure.

Ben fell asleep on the way to the bus stop this morning and actually got to finish his nap in his bed.

Monthly

I’ve been doing a second monthly photo series with Ben on his daily blog. I decided to show it here so you could see all the months together in one post.

Can You See Him?

Alex might have come up with the best hiding spot I have seen. I walked past him twice before he started making a beeping noise (it’s to help Kaitlyn out).

Hint – he’s under all the clothes in the laundry basket.

March 27, 2018

She definitely rules the house. She has two boys pushing her around in a car with no working wheels.

27 Mar

March 27, 2018

After every dance class, Kaitlyn and one of her other friends run to hide in the entryway while the parents slowly gather our things.

The face of a teething baby – who won’t take a pacifier.

Workout Partner

I haven’t found anywhere that will take Ben while I work out. At most places he has to be 6 months old. I finally got tired of waiting and have started working out at home. My kids are fascinated. Kaitlyn decided to work out with me today and even found an old toy rattle that looked like a dumbbell.

Wade needed a nap after last night’s adventures so I took everyone with me to run errands. The boys loved it and were so excited to help me unload everything when we got home.

Salem Overnight

The big boys had the opportunity for an overnight on the USS Salem through cub scouts. (Wade got to take them.) By all accounts they had a wonderful time – even with the limited food, minimal heat, and rainy weather. The boys are already asking about next year. (Wade spent the day recovering but is sure he’ll be ready for it again in 12 months.)

Girls’ Night

Kaitlyn has been looking forward to tonight all week. She knew the boys were going to be gone and we were going to have some Girl Time. She helped me plan the evening – a trip to see the Easter Bunny, Papa John’s pizza while watching Scooby Doo, painting our nails, watching The Lorax, and then sleeping in my bed with me. We had a great night. (Kaitlyn found some pajamas in the piles of baby clothes I was sorting. She was adamant that they fit. I had her try them on just to be sure. Impressively she can get 12 month pajamas on, but chose not to sleep in them.)

Ben’s finally figured out how to make his fingers work for him.

Homemade Easter Eggs

The kids got a box in the mail from Granny today. Not only were there holiday sugar cookies but an egg and bunny for each big kid. I love these eggs. Judy decorated them when Wade and Emily were young and still uses them. We just return them after the holiday so they can be filled again.

Thursday Night Craziness

All three big kids have swim lessons on Thursday nights. Unfortunately, they aren’t all at the same time. Everybody has to spend some time waiting. Today Kaitlyn convinced all the other kids waiting in the lobby to play hide-n-seek with her. I was impressed she asked them and it made the time go much faster.

Evidently Ben is going to be another child of mine that sticks his tongue out while concentrating.

21 Mar

Tag

Laser tag is still a favorite at our house. The boys especially love when Wade joins in the fun. Kaitlyn is content to be on Dad’s team and hold the flashlight (no matter if it’s dark or not). I anticipate we’ll be buying a second set of guns soon. Mom wouldn’t mind playing too.

The Longest Game Possible

Kaitlyn has discovered CandyLand and loves it. She will play with any willing participant or by herself. The last few times we have played, she gets upset if someone draws a “special card” that moves them ahead. She prefers not to use those or bury them back in the deck. Her thinking is that the game is over too quickly when you skip ahead…

March 19, 2018

The boys have discovered that Alexa will read them stories. They now spend all their time in their room listening to her.

March 19, 2018

Teague wanted to include Monkey in his box of items when he was Student Of The Week. I don’t think he realized that Monkey would be on display (and not coming home) for the entire week. He was really glad to bring him home today.

Who Fits Best

Today’s lunch time entertainment was called, “Who fits the best?” Kaitlyn was pretty sure she was the right size for the Bumbo.

Matching PJs

The older two boys are exempt from a lot of the matching PJs, but the youngest two have a few years to go. Easter PJs!
