Little girl giggles.
Month: February 2017
In a strange twist, my first born turned 8 today. How has it been 8 years!?!? We celebrated in grand style with breakfast at a Pancake house (special treat for those weekend birthdays) and then we opened gifts and played all day. Teague was excited to help me make Alex’s cake and we had a special dinner of pizza with chocolate birthday cake for dessert (and then a movie with popcorn)!
Happy 8th Birthday Alex!!
Teague was so excited to help me make Alex’s cake.
Sharing popcorn with Gram.
I vividly remember this globe light being in my Dad’s childhood room when I was growing up. I love that it is now in my boys’ room. I’ll just make sure they don’t look to closely at the countries – they are significantly out of date!
I kind of love that his nose is often stuck in a book.
Gram is pretty awesome. She played market with Teague for several hours today.
Typical morning.
Leah got off the bus at our house today. The boys loved having her play and I was impressed that she sat down to immediately do her homework.
Monopoly is back at the grocery store!
Her favorite Gram reading her favorite book.
She wanted to nap in her mittens and I agreed. Imagine my surprise when they were still on her hands 3 hours later.
The point of this exercise was to catch the whipped cream in your mouth. You’ll notice it is all over Alex’s face.
Mornings are rough.
Yup. Definitely a Wednesday.
This is what a brand new wallet looks like. One that doesn’t have years worth of things transferred into it – because the previous wallet is missing. Poor Wade. He lost it sometime on Sunday and it hasn’t shown up yet.
Just another morning walking to the bus stop.
During lunch today, Wade and I were talking about the predicted rain this afternoon. Suddenly I hear a loud bump from upstairs. When I went to check, I found Kaitlyn had carried the bathroom stool to her room and was trying to reach her raincoat.
Tandem rolling is much harder to achieve than you would think.
Mustache night at Awana.
Buddies.
Mid-roll.
Kaitlyn has never had a big interest in crayons, but markers are another story entirely. I have yet to figure out which markers wash out and with leave a stain. For now that means Kaitlyn does “markers, stickers, paper” with no shirt. It’s a daily activity so she now comes running to me to take off her shirt before getting out any supplies. Now if I could only figure out a way to keep stickers and the backers from getting everywhere…
Building with Dad.
Morning games.
“Mommy, I do stickers, markers, and paper?”
(All. The. Time.)
Kaitlyn is extremely independent. “I do it myself” is heard very often around here. What I love about her independence is she normally figures out a way to accomplish her goal without getting frustrated. Today she figured out how to wash her hands “by myself” in a bathroom that’s too small to keep a stool in it.
We check out a robot from the library!
I’m not really sure what prompted all the pictures of jeans, but here you have it. The jeans three of us were wearing today and a cute Kaitlyn eating raisins out of a jar.
Ice cream treat!
New books (courtesy of the library)!
Library trip.
“Alla” has been her favorite the last few days – for helping her do everything.
They are quite the pair.
Thankfully she was okay with a new roller without paint.
Last year we decided to stop exchanging gifts for the big boys and instead promise them a day out – without the littles. The plan last May was a trip to Six Flags, but an unexpected surgery cancelled the outing. We finally got everyone together for an overnight at a waterpark halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago. Riley was just getting over a bug so he didn’t spend the night but joined us the next day. These guys had a blast – from swimming, to TV, to hanging out in TJ Max, to shopping, and eating some more!
Big boy celebration day. (We stopped doing gifts for the big guys and instead gave them a day out together. This year it was an overnight to the waterpark.)
The boys are allowed to read after we put them in bed. Most nights I find Teague asleep with the books in bed and his light on within 30 minutes of saying “goodnight.”
Daddy was in charge all day. She got two bows, red shoes with a pink dress, and a trip to the grocery.
