Meatheads – It’s For Dinner

We love Meatheads for so many reasons. The boys love their burgers – made fresh when you order. I love their chicken fingers. Everybody loves their fries. They serve carrot sticks and dip with their kids meals. Today we love them because they are located right next to Alex’s art class which ends at 6 pm and makes it very hard for me to cook dinner. Wade met us and we all had a great meal. Kaitlyn entertained us with Peek-a-boo until the food arrived.

Teague was not to be done on entertaining us and used the Twisty Twigs they give to the kids to decorate his glasses. The only downside is they are slightly sticky and clouded up his glasses pretty bad!

A Day Of Pictures

Teague had his camera out all afternoon. He took pictures of everything (and I mean everything). I got a kick out of it and just let him enjoy his camera and film. I even took pictures of him taking pictures!

And here’s a sampling of the pictures Teague took today.

This is our favorite place to read. Tonight Alex read to me and then we quickly moved on to his book. (We are now on book 10 out of 12. Here’s hoping we find a new series soon.)

I looked over today to see that Teague has jumped on the makeup wagon.

They love to jump together on 1-2-3. They can get to exactly this point and then they (Kaitlyn) need help to achieve a tandem jump.

Blanket Of Fun

Kaitlyn gathered all the items you seen on this blanket from all over the house. They kept her entertained for about 20 minutes. I’ll call it a win.

Wade’s knee has been acting up so the ice pack has been all over the house. Alex thought it would make a great hat.

Alex really wanted to sing to Kaitlyn tonight at bedtime. Amazingly, she tolerated it.

During our spring cleaning we found this flashlight. The last two nights when I have gone to check on Teague’s sock situation, I have found him asleep, sock safely over his thumb, flashlight on, and usually under his torso.

I think the Easter Bunny knew what he was doing when he gave Kaitlyn her pretend makeup. It has been a favorite ever since!

28 Mar

Oddly Put

Alex’s glasses are always in one of two places – the top of his dresser or on the bathroom counter. Teague’s glasses are another matter entirely. They are usually in his room and usually on top of his dresser. However, I have found them on top of a book in his bookshelf, perched on the ladder of a firetruck on the playmobil table, under his pillow in his bed. Today’s location was by far the most interesting, mostly due to creativity and that he actually got them to stay.

Easter

The kids woke up and couldn’t wait to check out their Easter baskets. Alex got his much wanted Lego dinosaurs. Teague got his much wanted wallet. Kaitlyn got pretend makeup, which she has spent all morning putting on herself and her baby.

Then it was time to get dressed for church.

26 Mar

Egg Dyeing

Because we didn’t have enough excitement this morning, we decided to dye Easter eggs this afternoon.

The perfect part of all this is my kids love boiled eggs – sliced for breakfast and currently the boys love a sliced egg on bread with honey mustard for lunch. These won’t last two days…

Easter Brunch And An Egg Hunt

The boys (and I) were so excited when they realized we were now close enough to return to Milwaukee for our traditional Easter brunch and egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter. We loved spending the morning with old friends!

I’ve been into comparisons lately. So here are the last few years in Easter Brunches (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, no 2015 due to living in KC, and 2016).

Kaitlyn still refuses to sit in chairs the normal way, but at least she doesn’t spend the majority of her time standing…

24 Mar

Oops

I didn’t have a problem with Kaitlyn getting in the game cabinet. I even knew she was pulling everything out. It was only after she was done I realized she pulled out the puzzles and removed each piece from each puzzle before moving on to the next one. This might have been our most time consuming cleanup yet…

Family Reading

In an effort to appear in more pictures I have decided to start using my tripod and remote more often. Here goes. These pictures are put in order that they were taken over about an hour. (To be clear, Kaitlyn did not spend an hour on the couch listening to a book. She came and went, but she helped make the funniest pictures.) You can see how things went…

We have read a lot the past few days.

Teague had so much fun telling Kaitlyn all about cars this morning.

We visited a new park today. This slide was huge. Kaitlyn couldn’t wait to go down it and Alex really wanted to go with her. I finally agreed and Alex promised to be careful with her. I was so impressed. I don’t think he could have gone any slower if he had been sitting in molasses. Then I explained I was just worried about him holding on to her at the bottom. I let them go again at full speed 🙂

Entertaining Themselves

The boys have spring break this week and we are spending it at home. I started the day doing laundry and cleaning out closets. At some point I realized everyone was playing so nicely (and quietly) downstairs. When I finally went to check, I found the boys in the playroom and Kaitlyn enjoying all of the art supplies that had been left in her reach. After that Kaitlyn came upstairs with me and requested a change in pajamas and several different shoes while I worked in her room.

Kaitlyn decided baby needed a fruit pouch for lunch today.
(I love the instinctive opening of her mouth while feeding baby.)

Wade started with her toes. She begged him to keep drawing. It was adorable.

We have done a ton of reading lately. Wade says he knows where to find us when the house gets quiet.

19 Mar

Kaitlyn found another favorite cabinet. This one does have a child lock. She now whines and points to the magnet we keep up high on the refrigerator until someone hands her the magnet. Then she knows what to do with it.

19 Mar

Who Knows

Kaitlyn continues to keep us guessing – in so many ways. Right hand or left hand? (Taken literally 5 seconds apart.)

18 Mar

Old Man

When I saw this picture, I just had to laugh. Something about Teague’s stance and the fit of his jeans, just screams “old man”. Just a few years to go….

18 Mar

They made me a “food machine.” I was told it will make any kind of food I want. Then they informed me it wasn’t real and only pretend.

Normally I take over when it comes to this portion of the muffins. Today I decided to live dangerously and let Teague do it all by himself.
(He was in heaven.)

18 Mar

I set out the white mixing bowl to start the bran muffins. When I came back, Kaitlyn had decided to add her own spices.

17 Mar

Baker

The boys decided they wanted to make Daddy a pie tonight. Teague was quick to point out he knows how to make pie crust. I decided to let him go solo and see how it went. (not bad…)

17 Mar

Teague was awake when I went to get Kaitlyn from her nap. He was dead asleep on the couch when I came back downstairs.
(The awesome part here is his thumb is no where near his mouth. Way to go Teague!)

All three of my kids are in green. I am quite proud of my self.

16 Mar

Sibling Booktime

Kaitlyn actually let Alex read an entire book to her. She didn’t even demand to have two books at the sitting. She was adamant that she hold the book.
