Today we had sleds!
Month: January 2016
We have entered the Birthday season at our house. Kaitlyn was a huge help (heavy sarcasm) when it came to wrapping gifts this morning.
These boys and their after school snow fun – it’s almost every day!
Alex has always loved popcorn and it is often his chosen snack after school. Today we got smart and taught him how to pop it.
These boys can’t get enough of playing together in the snow after school. Here’s hoping we don’t get any warm weather.
I think she wanted to go play in the snow.
I think we need a bigger chair.
Alex came home and told me his tooth was really loose. I’ll admit I didn’t pay too much attention. This tooth has been wiggly for weeks. When he had trouble eating dinner because of the tooth I realized he was serious. He refused to let me pull it and Wade is out of town. I finally convinced him to sit down, read, and work the tooth back and forth. Two minutes later he lost the tooth! (Four baby teeth down…)
Teague is taking semi-private swim lessons with our neighbor. They seemed to be having a great time with their instructor today.
Kaitlyn’s “go to” item to get out in my kitchen is this cooling rack. She also usually ends up standing on it.
(Thankfully this is also the easiest item to put away when she is done.)
Kaitlyn got this slide for Christmas and has loved it. I wasn’t surprised to see her climbing up the slide, but I didn’t realize it would happen within the first few weeks of having it…
Another Monday. Another bus stop picture.
Only my boys would brave the windy, sub-freezing temps with no winter coats for a picture to make Mom happy.
Kaitlyn loved testing out her new booster seat.
Alex had to go with me on a few errands this afternoon because he needed a haircut. One of our stops was at the GAP to buy new jeans for Teague (I swear we have one pair left with knees intact). I wanted to check out the little girl section while we were there and Alex saw kitten mittens and wanted to buy them or Kaitlyn. How do you say no? Thankfully she loved them and wanted to wear them immediately.
Wade normally makes the kids cinnamon toast on Saturdays, but today he introduced them to French Toast.
(It was love at first taste!)
Often we get Kaitlyn in her high chair and munching on something while we get the rest of lunch or dinner ready. Today we looked over and realized she hadn’t been able to wait for lunch, let alone her bed.
(This is a first for any of my children.)
I can literally see the wheels turning in her head. She heard me say “no” in regards to opening the china cabinet (which of course doesn’t have child locks), but she really wants to get inside.
(For the curious – she did open the door. She did get in trouble. There were a few tears. Then she found a bouncy ball and chased it all over the house for the next 20 minutes while giggling uncontrollably.)
This Lego sorting may never end….
Teague chose chocolate fondue as his dessert tonight.
(Alex had some major regret after he saw what he was missing.)
Rocking baby.
(I’m rather enjoying having a girl who likes baby dolls, which surprises me to no end. I also love when she plays Ninja Turtles and Batman.)
This year Alex wanted to try basketball. Here we go..
Waiting.
All in the name of keeping her entertained for 45 minutes at Alex’s basketball practice.
And sometimes you turn around to find your son lounging upside down at the bottom of the slide.
We kind of love our after school playdates.
Kaitlyn’s 18 month checkup.
Weight – 22 lbs, 11 oz. (48%)
Height – 32.25 (52%)
Head circumference – 45 cm (25%)
Alex couldn’t wait to pick Teague up from school today and play with his friends in the snow again. Today the boys perfected the penguin slide.
Bedtime with Daddy.
This boy was so excited when his new belt came in the mail – after begging and begging for a new one when he outgrew the old one.
Nap is over!
We had an odd Monday today. Teague started back to school and Alex is off till Thursday. We dropped Teague at his class and then came home to do a little playing.
Then we picked Teague up and of course stayed to play a little in the snow with Teague’s friends. (Note that only one boy is wearing snow pants – not one of my boys!)
Teague started back to school on Monday. Alex doesn’t go back till Thursday. Now that Alex has seen what our days look like, I’m not sure we’ll ever get him to get on the bus.
Kaitlyn is in charge of dinner tonight.
Sunday – football and naps.
I’m sure we will regret this, but we have decided to do something with the mess of Legos. First attempt is sorting by color.
Sunday naps.
Changing baby’s diaper.
(Fun fact – Kaitlyn wore this same dress last year at Christmas – see here.)
The yearly toast has changed quite a bit – see here.
We celebrated the New Year a few days late with our Milwaukee friends!
We decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve with our Milwaukee friends a few days late. (The kids didn’t mind and we all love an excuse to get together!) Here’s a comparison of our first New Year’s Eve celebration in 2012 and now….
The kids bounced all over the house from playroom to video games.
I walked into the living room to find Kaitlyn in the corner reading to her baby doll. Sweetness.
Don’t judge. My children stayed in their pajamas all day. Then put on a new pair just to go to bed.
