The boys wanted to help me put Kaitlyn down for her morning nap instead of get dressed for school.
(That worked out really well…)
Month: October 2015
Three little Burches in the shower. What fun they had. What a mess of water I had.
Teague’s school had a field trip to the pumpkin farm. It was so fun to see him with his classmates. These two friends started screaming “Teague” the minute they saw him. The three of them ran and played all morning long.
(The best part is I had no idea he had made such good friends. Field trips are awesome.)
She was quite insistent on which animals Teague should feed next.
Teague’s school had a field trip to a pumpkin farm today. Even more fun that parents and siblings were invited too! This is the first time I got to meet Teague’s friends and see him in his school environment. We arrived at the meeting point and suddenly we hear “Teague” being shouted from several directions. Somehow I ended up with a popular little guy. He and his buddies ran and played all morning.
Alex finally figured a way to keep Kaitlyn away from his artwork. I’m just surprised she didn’t figure out how to crawl under or over the chairs.
I looked up from cooking dinner to find that Teague had moved a chair to the window and was intently watching the guys mow our lawn.
Doesn’t everyone carry around a bag of broccoli like a purse?
I convinced Teague to try on clothes as I switched all the summer for winter. He called it done when he got to the pajamas.
Poor Alex. This is what it looks like every night as he tries to get homework done.
We have this little nook in a back hallway perfect for the boys’ computer.
I heard a persistent ding coming from the boys’ computer. I rounded the corner to find Kaitlyn happily playing where she shouldn’t have been.
All around this picture is hilarious. Alex wanting to do Kaitlyn’s hair and Kaitlyn actually allowing it.
Morning soccer wears a boy out.
She’s got a slight fascination with shoes right now.
Sometimes my favorite picture is the one where no one is looking at the camera.
I walked into my kitchen to find a pirate reading a book. Dress up has been a favorite activity lately.
Teague wanted to do homework just like Alex.
Mom, I know you left this box at the back door. But it is obviously shoes and we must open it. NOW!
This pose brought to you by the book “Captain Underpants”.
He thinks I won’t see him sucking his thumb if he’s buried in pillows.
BUSTED.
A Kaitlyn Tantrum.
(Don’t tell her, but they are kind of cute. She gets upset and lays down on the floor. She whimpers a little and then forgets about it and either continues to lay on the floor or gets up and goes to play.)
Alex tries to read during morning chaos.
Sneaky nap strikes again.
15 month checkup
(With a new doctor, who we love!)
Weight – 21 lbs., 3.8 oz (50%)
Height – 30.75 inches (60%)
Head circumference – 44.6 cm (25%)
Teague had his regular three month eye appointment, but with a new eye doctor. We’ve now had four ophthalmologists in about a year. The turnover in Kansas City was just random bad luck – a fellowship ending, maternity leave, and the availability for a last minute checkup before we left town (due to the maternity leave being extended a second time). Now we have a new doctor (recommended by our Boston surgeon). She is wonderful. I love her. She also quickly recommended glasses for Teague. He didn’t seem at all bothered and was rather excited when he got to pick out a blue pair.
There is a Baskin Robbins conveniently located in the same parking lot as the doctor’s office. Teague has a lot of trouble letting people put drops in his eyes. We made a deal that he could have a huge scoop of ice cream if he let the drops go in with minimal fuss. (Lucky for him he actually had to get two different kinds of drops. The first time didn’t go so well at all, but he was a champ by the second time.)
It was an epic playdate.
I thought we’d safely escaped, but somehow Pokeman has entered our lives. Thankfully Alex isn’t really interested, but a neighbor gave him a few cards.
They tell me they are playing “Mommy and Daddy.”
She loves to stack.
It was just a video game kind of night.
It was just a video game kind of night.
Alex couldn’t wait to get off the bus and put together the plane he won at Bingo last night.
Here’s how this goes. Kaitlyn sees that Teague has something. She wants it. He of course will give anything to anyone, but especially to his sister. It’s a grape and he knows she can’t have a whole one. Without a word from me, he will take a bite and give her half a grape (as he has seen me do). She will put it in her mouth for a second and throw it on the floor. Then she will ask for another one and the entire thing will repeat.
We went to Bingo night at Alex’s school and we all had a card. Can you guess the owner of each card?
(Alex was the only winner so he got both a sticker and a prize.)
She loves “her” cabinet. I struggle constantly with not putting a lock on it and saving myself the constant cleanup.
