It was a long drive, but the boys kept themselves entertained.
It was a long drive, but the boys kept themselves entertained.
Kaitlyn has everything necessary for a good nap – blanket, lovey, pacifier, and most important – a moving car.
Today was our last day in Milwaukee. (We leave early tomorrow morning.) We went to our old church (TCC) and then and lunch with the Masseys. The boys were being monkeys on the stairs but my camera wasn’t fast enough to catch their poses.
After a very short nap we were back in our old neighborhood for a cookout. We had a grew time with some good food, smiles, laughs, and a few tears (due to an incident with a tennis racquet). When it was time to say good-bye, Teague asked if he could give Iris a “hug and kiss.” (He might need a little work at this. His best attempt is documented in the picture below.)
And the group grows by one!
Bubble popping.
Hotel napping.
If only Kaitlyn was as excited about this as Iris.
BFFs.
Hoyt – we missed you.
A little hotel snuggling with Daddy.
As soon as after-school snacks were done yesterday we loaded up the car and headed for Milwaukee. The kids were all great and Wade drove late into the night to get us to our hotel. The kids and I woke up early and headed to Hoyt. (We left Wade to sleep.)
Alex had his first day of Kindergarten today with Ms. Fulk. He tolerated my first day pictures.
He couldn’t wait to ride the bus! I am still struggling with the fact that he is old enough to ride a school bus all by himself. (Madison would have happily gone too, but I managed to keep her off the bus.)
Wade, Teague, Kaitlyn, and I were all there to greet Alex when he got off the bus. Poor Alex got a bloody nose on the bus ride home and dealt with it himself (as best he could).
The first day of Kindergarten wears a boy out!
A “real” smile from Teague.
Watching while Mom does a little computer work.
Small town life – a sign welcoming Alex to kindergarten appeared by our walk today.
Not only did we stay in our pajamas most of the day, but the boys rode their bench cushion down the basement stairs.
Big brother singing a song to Kaitlyn.
Back to school night – testing out his desk.
I should have known when I sent Teague to get a new pair of shorts (spilled milk accident) that I wouldn’t like the results…
Holding head up (consistently)? Check.
Alex’s letter writing campaign continues – this time he wrote notes for all our neighbors.
A stroll through the neighborhood.
Sibling love.
Waiting to leave for church.
Daddy’s girl.
Kids’ night out at the YMCA. They are ready to go with swimming suits packed.
This snuggle bug is wrapped up in three blankets – in the summer!!
Big brother Alex ready to entertain.
Checking on the baby.
Testing out her play mat.
I don’t remember quite how it came about but Alex and Aunt Lissy got into a discussion about Pixie Dust (most of Alex’s knowledge coming from the movie “Pirate Fairy“). It ended with Aunt Lissy promising to send some Pixie Dust from her Pixie Dust tree. Alex couldn’t wait to get it so he could make his own Pixie Dust tree. (For the last week he has told everyone he met about Pixie Dust and has planned out how to create a Pixie Dust tree.) The promised Pixie Dust arrived today. Alex couldn’t contain his excitement!
He’s back to drawing letters and mailing them to everyone he knows.
(I think next he needs some return labels of his own.)
My directions to the boys were to get their library books, which were the only books out and on the rug in the middle of their room. I decided to check on them after a while and found them “looking” for the books on their bookshelf.
It’s an odd picture, but can you see how long her hair is in the back? Too bad she doesn’t have an equal amount in the front!
Recovery (two nights of sleepovers are hard on a boy).
One of the few ways I have found to make everyone happy at the same time!
10:45 pm – when I put her down at 7 she was completely swaddled with only her upper face showing.
Reunited!!
