Bedtime snuggles with Madison.
Month: June 2014
Teague learned to put on his underwear by himself by looking for the “words” on a tag. He also loves to tell me, “I no find words.”
Alex has been very focused on drawing lately – this time a dragon.
Teague’s preferred way to play goalie. (He might need a little work on what he is supposed to be doing in this position.)
Wade’s company gave everyone the afternoon off to rejuvenate (or some such fun thing). After Teague and I picked Alex up from school, we all drove downtown to see Wade’s work. Wade had told the boys about the “train restaurant” and they were so excited we had dinner at 4:30 pm. Fritz’s has a pretty basic diner menu and has trains all over the place. The best part is your meal is delivered by a train!
Hanging out on a pirate ship.
New library books help pass the time at the DMV. (Thankfully small town living means the wait was only 10 minutes.)
Tucked in and ready for bed.
Teague pretty much kept himself entertained today…
The boys got these for Christmas, but we put them up till summer. Yesterday Wade created a compressor set-up for me in the garage for kids’ toys. We tested it out today with the bouncy balls. Both boys were so excited. We determined Alex’s is a little big for him but will be great next year. Both boys took turns on the red one and and a blast.
I have no idea what their thinking was, but I found the boys like this and couldn’t stop laughing.
Let’s call it like it is. Mom and Dad were about to leave for a date night and Mom realized no pictures had been taken all day.
Wade and I have found very few issues with our new house, but the dishwasher is a big one. We knew we loved our old dishwasher but we didn’t realize we would have so many regrets leaving it behind. The new one is so bad the wheels won’t even stay on! Two have fallen off during a wash cycle and melted beyond repair. Wade finally had enough and tonight added Loctite to his previous fix of cable ties. (Tomorrow night dishwasher shopping is on our date night agenda)
Trying out a new playground.
Every morning these guys show up on my stools looking for breakfast.
Morning randomness.
Swimming lessons at the Y.
Gas stop.
Teague had his first soccer practice tonight. (Alex opted out of soccer and into baseball.) He was so excited to play and did really well about staying focused for the entire hour (Alex struggled with this at the same age – see here), but we might need to work on his skills a little!
One of my top priorities after getting to our new house was getting a library card. The local library is tiny but heavily focused on kids (and has a book loan program with a bigger library). Through the kids’ summer reading program, the boys can earn a book to keep for every 24 books they are read. Today they both got to pick out their first book to keep. They both chose their own books with no help from Mom. (This is to explain Teague’s choice which has Islamic subject matter but more importantly a red car on the cover.)
Our living room has this awesome little bump out with fantastic windows looking over the backyard. I have claimed this as my favorite reading/napping spot while the boys nap. In the last few days Tabit has also been napping in the chair. Thankfully for now we seem to be on different napping schedules.
I went to register Alex for Kindergarden in the fall and was told about a three week summer program full of science experiments. Alex seems pretty excited to try it and I love that it is taught by his teacher for the fall.
Teague seemed quite content to have Alex gone at school all day.
Alex was so excited to help me paint this dresser for Teague.
(We quickly determined one dresser wasn’t enough for two boys.)
About 15 minutes after I put him down for his nap, Teague appeared in the garage excited that his nap was over and he could help paint.
(I finally got him back in bed and he slept a few hours before joining us again.)
