Lesson Learned

I thought I was so smart to have my first OB appointment with my doctor scheduled for my first morning in town. The boys would be gone with their grandparents and the movers would just be starting their unloading. Unfortunately, going to a new doctor meant they wanted to do an exam and then they discovered I was slightly dilated. That could be normal for a second pregnancy or that could be an indicator of early labor. With my history, I left on “modified bed rest” and another appointment for next week.

Hello And Goodbye

We arrived in Platte City last night but pretty much went straight to our hotel and bed. Today we met friends for breakfast (Yay for a Nascar Race in Kansas City and a visit from Matt and Krista) and then went to explore our new house. The boys seemed excited and before long Granny and Pop arrived to take them on a week-long adventure to Fayetteville (where Aunt Emmie lives).

Sniff, Sniff

Today we made our last stop at our green house. Madison had spent the last few nights with the Buchmans and Tabit had been roaming free. We found Tabit relatively easily (thank goodness) and then she managed to escape her carrier and lead us on a merry chase. We did catch her, but Wade’s hands suffered greatly from her displeasure. Both boys got to say their last good-byes to best friends living across the street.

Goodbyes

Today was Alex’s last day of school. (Schools in Platte City get out around Memorial Day so we aren’t going to transfer him to a new school for just a few weeks.) He brought home all kinds of end-of-year papers and projects and we took one last picture with Miss Christensen.

The moving truck pulled out this afternoon and our house is empty (and mostly clean)! Wade decided we needed to take care of the stain on the front steps so he spent part of the night adding a little more sealer. My awesome neighbors arranged a goodbye fondue dinner so we spent a great evening eating and playing and taking pictures!

Ice Cream Social

Amber planned an ice cream social for the neighbor’s tonight. What fun everyone had running around and eating too!

Portrait

Wade sent me this from work. It’s his portrait as drawn by a Hallmark artist. (You’ll notice Wade is in disguise. I’m not sure if that is typical or just Wade.)

Stretched A Little Thin

We might have tried to do a little too much today, but it sure was fun! After picking Alex up from school, we ran home for a quick lunch and to accept delivery of the boys’ new bunk beds. Then we met Riley and Glenna at Swiss Turners for a last open gym. How perfect that there were only a few other kids and ours basically had the place to themselves.

Good-Byes

I love Etsy. I had a vision of what I wanted to give Amber and Nicki for thank you/good-bye gifts but no skill to create it myself. I found a wonderful lady on Etsy who took my quote and made it pretty! Then I just had to find the mat and frame.

Alex has been asking to bowl all week and it seemed like a good activity with B and Mary in town.

Busy Busy Day

Alex had Tenzin over to play after school today and they were great playmates!

Then B and Mary arrived for the weekend. They came bearing gifts and willing to read bedtime books (Kudos to my Dad for managing to read a Star Wars book and never having heard most of the character names before).

Alex convinced his playmate to help fix the bathroom sink. When I went to check on them they had managed to disconnect the stopper so we had a lesson in putting it back together.

My Little Builder

One of Alex’s friends brought this Flying Bird to school last week. A bunch of boys stayed after school to play together and the bird got broken. The owner was quite upset and Alex decided to make him a new one.
