Pint sized play date.
Month: January 2014
Brother kisses.
Saturday morning with Daddy.
Teague has wanted to take swim lessons for months – ever since Alex’s last session where he would just get to watch. I told him when he turned 3 then he could start. We went ahead and signed up for the session starting in January. Teague is comfortable around water and spent most of the summer at the pool, but that was wading depth. I decided for his first session in a deep pool we would do the parent/child class. I am so glad we did! He was so excited to go, but definitely a little apprehensive about having to let me support him. He got overwhelmed a few times and would grab me tight, but he always wanted to try again. He very quickly became comfortable with the kicking, scooping, and kickbaord. He was a natural at the back float – which Alex is only now comfortable doing. (Most kids don’t like it and especially don’t like that they have to trust the adult to hold them.) After the class was over Teague looked at me and said, “Me swim!”
Alex was excited to be back to swimming and had no trouble. He is in a really large group and I’m not sure they will ever venture to the “big” pool, which is just fine with him. He does great in the little pool, but the big one is even deeper and COLD.

Scrap wrapping paper is perfect for practicing with scissors.
Wrapping Daddy’s birthday present.
When Playmobil and Rescue Bots collide.
This train set definitely didn’t entertain them more than 2 seconds, which is sad since it took me much longer to assemble the track.
We knew today was going to be cold. They cancelled school for Monday last week and have been issuing Wind Chill Warnings for days. I woke up to a temperature of -12 and wind chill of -45. (Needless to say we were staying home!)
We did have Abram over for a playdate and it reminded me of days of old when we did this every other day (darn school getting in the way of fun).
War Eagle! (Shirts courtesy of Aunt Emmy.)
We ended the day with an impromptu birthday celebration for Riley. Amber brought the cake and then we kind of crashed the party. Can’t believe these boys became friends over three years ago!
(If you are really observant you will notice that everyone but Alex has on a Packer shirt. We somehow never got around to buying him a shirt this year. The playoff game was tonight, and the Dads were in the other room watching.)
Alex came home from Sunday School with a crown. (Evidently they were learning about the Wise Men.)
We went to meet Amy and Nate’s new baby and Teague immediately wanted to hold him.
I am still using Goodreads to track my books and here’s the total after 2013. (Obviously a good year for reading.)
Toy reorganization in progress. The train table has been converted to a Playmobil table.
I walked into the kitchen to find them like this….
A little lego assembly.
