Before surgery Teague’s eyes were always difficult to see. If he really tried to focus on something then his eyes would become crossed. I have a few pictures really showing this and have never posted them, but here is one example.
Not only are his eyes more centered but he no longer crosses his eyes under any circumstances. Here was a picture taken a few days ago.
We have been in touch with Teague’s doctor and for a few days we were making plans for a return trip to Boston next week for eyelid surgery and possibly for Dr. Hunter to do some further adjustments. Upon further examination of videos and pictures it was determined that surgery could wait till next spring. (We have a follow-up visit planned in February.) This will allow time for everything to “settle” and all swelling to disappear – meaning the eyelid surgery can be done under much better conditions.
Month: December 2013
Just sitting in Daddy’s chair reading Daddy’s Calvin and Hobbes.
Waiting for his bedtime books.
Second dinner of the night.
What happens when you send a 2 year old to get some tissue.
Alex’s favorite pair of pajamas. He would wear them every night if he could (and often he checks to see if they are in the dryer and I just haven’t put them in his drawer.)
Somebody is loving his shower.
Playing in the snow with my boys.
We were enjoying a lazy Saturday morning when one of Wade’s co-workers sent him a text asking if we were at the METCO Christmas Brunch yet. We had completely forgotten about it but we quickly got everyone ready and out the door. This event is fantastic for children. There are crafts, games, pictures, and Santa with gifts for each child! This year featured a new addition – the world’s best balloon-animal-maker. I have never seen someone combine balloons and create the type of animals this man could create – Rudolph, monkey in a tree, octopus, turtle, etc. Teague asked for a blue Lighting McQueen and imagine my surprise when the man made one and an awesome one at that!
Alex kept trying, but couldn’t get the spoon to stay on his nose.
He’s a natural!
Tour club is always taking us somewhere new and fun. Today’s adventure was ice skating at the Pettit National Ice Center. Alex was really, really excited to try. Unfortunately he had a rough time. He continued to keep getting up but he fell with basically every step. (It didn’t help that Mom is just good enough to stay on her feet but not really support him too.) Thankfully he left wanting to try again someday, but happy to go home and just rest.
We were watching the evening news and there was a blurb about the ice in Memphis. Alex wanted to call Pop and tell him not to plant any apple seeds right now because they wouldn’t grow in this weather. (Where does this stuff come from?)
We broke out the Santa hats today.
Alex likes to help me pick out new Scentsy scents.
Teague has gotten a lot of shoulder rides from Daddy lately. Now he likes to carry monkey around that way.
The doctors had told us the goal of Teague’s eye surgery was to bring his chin position down. I had a hard time believing this was possible considering how low his eyelids droop. I did think I noticed a slight improvement after his surgery but I had my doubts. Until I saw this picture of Teague at school.
His head is in a normal position, he is looking at the camera, and his mouth is closed. Those three things were pretty much impossible to achieve at the same time before. We would often have Teague look at the photographer’s shoes or something else on the ground so that you could actually see his face. The picture below is a very typical Teague picture (before surgery) if no instructions were given.
I need to get some presents under our tree. The dog, cat, and both boys think it is a great place to play.
It’s that time of year – Christmas pajamas!
Tree decorating.
