Tasting out the sweets from Amber’s Sprinkle last night.
(He kept calling the cannoli a taco.)
Month: August 2013
The boys loved helping Daddy in the shop all day and couldn’t wait to be measured on their new growth chart.
Alex reading a book that was given to his Daddy as a little boy. “Tale of Tom Kitten”
Pure joy at seeing the truck in his book.
I don’t think I really saw any of my boys today. Nicki and I were throwing a baby shower (Sprinkle) for Amber and I spent most of the day running errands or getting things ready. Wade kept the boys entertained and took them out for dinner and fishing while the actual shower was taking place. It was a pretty awesome evening and hopefully everyone had fun!
We had a mostly pajama day – definitely until after nap. I did some things around the house and realized at some point that Alex had gotten into my toolbox and was “fixing” the house with real tools.
Almost…
One of my favorite stops at the state fair is the flavored milk (which I actually don’t drink). Alex has root beer. Teague has chocolate. Wade has strawberry. After about two sips Alex asked to switch with Wade. (Evidently the root beer was pretty bad.) The rest of the milk was gone in no time!
Wade and I love the state fair and Alex was super excited to go this year! We convinced him the rides are only for big kids so we had a blast looking at animals and trying out all kinds of yummy food. What a great night!
Wade decided to sand and stain the front steps this evening. He ended up with more help than he could use.
Sliding.
Astronaut Teague.
I would say at this point that Teague is a happy, well-adjusted 2.5 year old. He alternates loving and annoying his older brother. He’s mastered all his colors and still loves cars above all else. He loves to be held and snuggled (preferably by Mom) and will quietly play on his own for huge stretches of time. He doesn’t love on Madison quite like he did in the beginning, but he loves to talk about “Madison” and “Meow”. Teague won’t watch television – which is a good thing 95% of the time (the 5% being when Mom really wants to accomplish something without “help”). He sleeps with two Curious George monkeys. When I tuck him in he will say, “two monkeys.” Teague is happy most of the time, but he is a very strong-willed little guy and can throw quite the tantrum when he doesn’t get his way. It’s crazy to think we are getting close to the one year mark. We can’t imagine our family without him!
It was a tent-in-the-living-room-kind of day.
It was a tent-in-the-living-room-kind of day.
One of Alex’s jobs this summer has been to put on Teague’s shoes before we leave the house. Some days Teague is okay with this and others he really doesn’t like Alex being the one to help him. I’m all for it and encourage it as much as possible!
Alex wanted to fish so back wen went to the pond at Elm Grove Village Park.
Alex has been very focused on fishing lately. At our concert on Thursday night he found a net and saw a little girl fishing in the pond at the park. He’s been asking to go ever since so today’s activity was fishing!
The fish were biting and everyone was successful, but Teague caught the most – 4 fish!
I’m not sure why it took me 4.5 months to take this picture, but I am so glad to finally have it done! Last March (and on through till Summer) Alex was fascinated with all things leprechaun. There had obviously been much discussion about them at school and he was always wanting to “trap” one. After St. Patrick’s Day, he brought home this leprechaun trap he had built at school (finally I understood where the idea to trap a leprechaun came from). Because it had been such a huge interest for so long, I decided to take a picture of the trap for a scrapbook. The leprechaun trap has been sitting on our kitchen island since then. It is well known how often I take pictures, but somehow this picture never quite got taken. Today I can finally mark it off my list (and remove it from my counter)!
The boys love the rice box and Mom loves the rice box outside!
Older playdate – Alex and Abram.
Younger playdate – Teague and Grant.
Wade and I are making a huge commitment. One that is long overdue. We are installing air conditioning in our house! For houses like ours with no current duct work, the normal system to install is a small duct high velocity system – SpacePak. We are hoping they can do the actual installation the week the boys and I are at the beach, but regardless we will soon have central air!! (Of course this has been one of the mildest summers in our last five years, but still this is awesome.) Now I am just hoping they don’t make too much of a mess and Wade doesn’t have to do too much wall patching to hide the work in the closets…
