Wade had his work people over tonight. What an interesting mix of engineers and designers. They were quite creative when it came to “altering” our games. They made cornhole more challenging by putting Bobby in the middle. They made 2×4 Jenga an entirely new game by changing the shape/pattern of the boards. Then they drank a lot of alcohol and ate a lot of cheese dip (and raided the candy bowl). A good time was had by all!

You might be wondering what I did while the boys were gone? I did some random small projects around the house. I was a little lazy. I read. I worked out. I spent time with Wade. I also completed (or almost completed) my Project Life for 2012. I have had everything sitting in a pile, but just hadn’t put it in the book and and printed the journaling cards. I love how it turned out!

Judy and Jerry had mentioned that friends had a Japanese fire truck and wanted to show it to Alex and Teague. I wasn’t exactly sure what that meant. It turns out it is basically a miniature fire truck. When Alex first saw it he said, “Just my size.” The boys were quite fascinated and got to play and ride to their hearts’ content.

Alex got to ride in a Japanese fire truck today (at least 10 laps around) – Granny and Pop’s friends have the coolest toys!

Teague was a little too scared to ride in the fire truck, but he sat in Pop’s lap and pretended to drive.

Pretty shortly after the boys woke up (at a very early 6 am) we were on the road again for Nashville. We let Alex and Teague play with Harper (and I got to meet my new niece) before we made everyone sit for a group photo. We attempted a few pictures of just the kids, but Alex wasn’t interested in holding the baby so we might try those again in July when we get everyone together again.
Then we fed the boys lunch and their Granny and Pop came from Memphis to take them away for a week of fun at their house.

Thumb sucker.
Teague’s class at MDO had a graduation ceremony today. They walked across the “bridge” to receive their diploma. It was pretty obvious the little ones had been practicing and were excited to perform. Teague was the last name called. He got up on the bridge, paused, looked to me with a huge grin, and then stood there for the applause and pictures before continuing to the other side.
Last day of school!
Today it occurred to me that Alex is tall enough to see into our silverware drawer. Bingo! Now he can unload the silverware from the dishwasher. Mom loves the help and he loves earning a star.
Teague was amusing himself while I cooked dinner. Then I realized he was saying, “black beans” over and over. This boy loves his beans!
Alex loves his Crocs, but they do quite a number on his feet in the summer. Tonight I wouldn’t let him take his shoes off until he was ready to get in the shower. (If you know Alex you know this was quite a big deal. He is adamant about taking shoes off at the backdoor.) Then he had to take the shoes in the shower and wash them too.
Bedtime for Teague means books with Mom.
Alex is really starting to enjoy soccer (it only took 3 sessions of lessons).

Take them to the playground and they are fascinated with the sewer drain.
Fun at the playground.
Alex wasn’t interested in having his picture taken today..
Teague wanted “meow” and even managed to snuggle with her for a few minutes.
As an explanation for why he was choosing the rabbit setting on his lawn mower, Alex told me, “I’m going to put it in rabbit because we don’t see any turtles in our yard.”
It turns out Teague doesn’t wake up from anesthesia very well. Thankfully Mom, Mumby, and a car eventually calmed him down.
Monkey.
This boy would live in his car if it were possible.
Both kids thought washing my car was the best idea I’d had in a long time. Who would have guessed?
