Pillow attack!
Month: March 2013
Wade and I are left today for the SEC tournament in Nashville. We go every year to watch some basketball and spend time with my family. Granny and Pop arrived this morning to stay with the boys and Wade and I left on a flight a few hours later.
Alex immediately had a “plan” for the first evening with Granny and Pop. He suggested a fire for roasting marshmallows. Granny said that would be fine if Pop could make a fire and there were marshmallows in the house. Alex proceeded to climb up on the counter, get the magnet for the child locks, unlock the drawer, and point out the marshmallows. He also assured Granny he knew how to make a fire and could tell Pop what to do – which is exactly true. He watches Mom and Dad do it almost every night.
Our pediatrician’s office was nice enough to let me schedule the boys’ yearly checkups together. I didn’t realize this meant we’d be at the doctor’s office for 1.5 hours! The boys did really well with the first part of the check-up. Alex was getting his height (40″ – 50%) and weight (39.8 lbs – 75%) taken like a “big boy” so of course Teague wanted to do that too. Teague’s height (35″ – 75%) and weight (34.2 lbs – 96%) were still somewhat impressive. Teague also had a development assessment done and we were all (doctor included) surprised to see that even his vocabulary/communication skills scored on the average level (the low side, but still – not bad for only 5 months of even hearing English).
The rest of the check-up went pretty quickly. The boys found plenty of things in the room to amuse themselves during the times we had to wait. Then Alex saw the shots. He did pretty well until he felt the first one. Then he let out quite the scream. Sadly he had to get a second one too. The nurse provided a sucker which was great until Alex realized Teague had to get four shots. Then he got quite upset on Teague’s behalf – so much so that the sucker dropped right out of his mouth. Thankfully Teague didn’t get upset much at all – thank you Cars band-aids and sucker as awesome distractions!
Alex’s 4 year check-up came with two shots. He had a rough time with them (and then also with the fact that Teague had to get shots). He also told me he couldn’t help carry in his bags or raise his arm to take off his shirt tonight. Life is rough.
Today’s 2 year check-up came with four shots. Teague actually did pretty well with it and loved all the different band-aids he got.
We had errands to run on this rainy Monday before heading to Yo Mama for story time. The minute Alex saw rain outside he wanted his rain boots, his umbrella, and to jump in puddles. I convinced him we should wait on the puddle jumping until we got home and he agreed. We met the Kubickis at story time and ended up being the only ones there – they loved that!
Splatter paint.
Teague sure does love his rice.
(He had three helpings to Alex’s two. These boys love Chinese take-out.)
Alex is normally pretty quick in the bathroom. Tonight I realized he had been in there quite a while. I asked him two different times if he was okay and he quickly replied, “fine”. When I went to check on him I realized why he had been occupied for so long.
Dressed and ready for church (and waiting on Mom and Dad).
Darn those after bedtime nose bleeds. (very convenient for Alex though…)
Teague is quite confused by Alex’s antics in the bucket of the front loader.
The Zoo had a “Behind The Scenes” day. We went only to check out the train area (it was rainy and most of the others we see through zoo classes). Alex was in heaven. He got to climb in/on/around all the engines and cars. We saw where the trains are stored, maintained, and painted. Teague knew enough to say “choo choo” over and over. He only wanted in one particular train and the rest he vehemently fought against getting in.

Hide-n-seek.
Hugs for Mom.
One last big snow (hopefully) led to sledding in the front yard.

I love to read. I love drama, vampires, thrillers, mysteries, romances, supernatural, heartwarming, westerns, etc. I can most often be found with a book in my hand or at least in my purse. My blog has a book list and I recently transferred all the data into GoodReads. I love that they have an easy way to view my reading numbers for the past several years.
I should also probably put in a disclaimer here that I will read any book I come across or am given. Numerous times Wade has had to listen to me moan and groan about a book I don’t like but am determined to finish (and do).
I’m pretty sure Alex is teaching Teague the names of the cars.
My boys both just wanted to play with this box all morning.

I wanted a snack and this is all Mom would give me.
Gonna get every last one.
Asher invited Alex to his 6th birthday party – a karate birthday party. Alex was excited to go and a little intimidated once we got there. He wanted to sit and watch for the first half, which was fine. He and Abby ran around in circles and took it all in.
Saturday mornings are Dad’s time.
Bedtime books with Daddy.
Alex was playing a version of “Ants in My Pants” and Teague was busy stealing the Ants to put in his car.
