Making pizza!
Month: December 2011
Wade almost always puts Alex to bed, but he’s out of town this week. Last night he sent Alex a video of him singing a Christmas carol at bedtime. Alex has wanted to watch it over and over and over.
My favorite story of the weekend:
I had just finished folding the laundry in the laundry room and was about to fold up the rug on the floor. (A quick turn in the dryer cleans it right up.) As I began folding the edges I noticed something sparkly on the rug. The thoughts that ran through my head, “There’s a rhinestone. I wonder what that came off of. Oh well, I won’t bother to pick it up and the dryer will take care of it.” Then I realized nothing in the wash would have had a rhinestone on it. At this point I looked at my left hand and realized my diamond was missing from my engagement ring.
Not only was I lucky that it fell out and I noticed right away, I was lucky I didn’t lose it in the dryer!
Flashlight games.
(To explain: Phoenix lives next door. Alex saw him shining his flashlight out the window and ran to get his. The picture is of the two boys shining their flashlights at each other from their respective houses.)
Today was a recovery day. Wade was worn out from traveling last week and I was tired from our late night last night (Wade and I went to Chicago for my company’s Christmas Party). We were all in our pajamas till noon when Wade finally decided to get the day started. Alex and I didn’t see the need and instead snuggled some more in front of the fire.
We did finally all get going and decide to put up our outside Christmas lights. Alex was fascinated with the process and really wanted to help.
Alex and Tabit – playing.
It’s officially December and the Christmas parties have begun. Wade’s work has a wonderful breakfast with Santa for the kids. There are activities, grab bags, and all kinds of yummy treats. Alex loved writing a letter to Santa and putting it in the mailbox. He asked for a “concrete mixer that turns and turns”. Then he wanted to write a letter for Mommy, who wanted a grader. He also wrote a letter for Daddy, who wanted a grader too!
Hugging Santa – after telling him he wants a “concrete mixer that turns and turns”.
We spent a good part of the morning in our pajamas and Alex loved playing with his sleeping bag in front of the tree.
Alex and I were doing some grocery shopping when I remembered I had to provide snack at MDO. We were walking down the cracker aisle and I was looking for something good. Alex was talking the entire time and I was responding, but not really paying attention. At some point I realized he had seen the Triscuits (which Wade loves) and was talking about them. Then he asked if we could get Daddy a box. I told him that was a great idea and we’d even get two (because Wade sometimes eats an entire box at once). I knew there had been a man stocking the shelves but I hadn’t been paying him any attention. He had obviously been listening to Alex. He came up and told Alex he was a really good boy to think of his Daddy and handed him some paper. I realized the man was the Nabisco rep and had given Alex a great coupon for the Triscuits. Score!
I’m a little embarrassed to admit to how many Christmas books Alex has. Thank goodness he loves to read!
