Alex bears a striking resemblance to the Coppertone baby.

Cherry vanilla milk at the state fair.
(Alex wanted root beer milk, but I wasn’t sure he would drink it)
Wade and I love the fair. We’ve been every year we lived in Milwaukee. This is the first year we got free tickets (thanks to someone at Tosa Night Out). Wade and I mostly go for the food – funnel cakes, corn dogs, fresh squeezed lemonade, spiral cut chips, etc. This year we did try the flavored milk – strawberry for us and cheery vanilla for Alex. Alex’s favorite part was definitely the animals. He loved seeing them up close.
Alex was really excited about his Cars Macaroni & Cheese for lunch. I came into the kitchen from the other room and found him like this waiting for me.
As I was getting us ready for the pool, Alex found some cords in Wade’s closet and started playing “doctor.” (Below is his version of a stethoscope.) The funny part is I have never seen him do this before and I had not told him we were actually going to the doctor later this afternoon. It turned out to be a great way to prepare him for it.
Alex kept trying to call the doctor (Dr. Esser) by his dentist’s name (Dr. Rick). I was trying to explain the difference in a doctor and a dentist and Alex still came away with, “Dr. Esser will wash my hair.” (Just like when we talked about going to the dentist.)
Alex’s newest skill – piggy faces on the shower door.
Wade introduced me to Threadless years ago. I’ve had this particular t-shirt since we lived in South Carolina. I wore it to the gym today and to run a few errands. I had no less than four people comment on it. I actually wear the shirt quite a bit and have never had that kind of response. Wonder what was different about today?
If you look closely you can see the tears in Alex’s eyes – the reaction we’ve gotten the last few nights when we say it is bedtime.
(Don’t worry. Tears don’t actually fall. The lip stops quivering and happiness returns when you mention a “shower“.)
Hot. Sweaty. Tired. Determined to wait for a turn holding the firehose.
Alex and I both have missed the pool so we started the day at the water park! Nicki, Riley, and Abram joined us too. Towards the end of the morning the boys wanted to run around, which the lifeguards don’t allow. Nicki and I told the boys they could run on the grass, which they loved. We also tried to teach them “tag” but I’m not sure they got it at all…
Wade came home from work early and we spent the evening at Tosa’s Night Out. This year Alex was old enough for all the activities. He especially loved the bounce houses and fire hose! (In the last picture, Alex is much more interested in talking to the fireman than putting out his fire.)
Part of our morning routine is watering all the outdoor plants. Today Alex decided to add my car to the list.
