Amber, Amy, and I signed up for a cake decorating class. The first class met tonight and we were told to bring 6 flat sugar cookies. Judy (Wade’s mom) has a great recipe and we have a history of making sugar cookies at our house (see here and here and here and here). I made the dough yesterday and baked the cookies while Alex was napping.
Alex was excited to try a cookie when he woke up and it disappeared in no time (I can only imagine when he gets one with icing and sprinkles):
We are taking the Beginner Cake Decorating Class by Wilton offered at our local Michael’s store. The class meets for 2 hours for 4 weeks. I learned a lot last night and can’t wait to try baking a cake for next week.
Month: July 2010
Alex loves all things musical. Here he has found Abram’s drum set. Abram is in the background trying to entice Alex to play in the firetruck bed.
We just got back from a week full of traveling and now we have a busy week in front of us. Wade and I enjoyed an evening out with the Young Couples Group for dinner and mini-golf.
This group started as a Young Couples Group for those without kids. When we joined we had just found out we were pregnant and one of the other couples was due within a few weeks of us. Now two of the other couples are pregnant (and due within a few weeks of each other). I wonder when the name of the group has to change?
Abram and Alex at the 4th of July parade (It was very, very hot).
Alex and I joined the Strouds for the Brookfield Fourth of July Parade. Abram and Alex didn’t want to miss a thing (including the candy being thrown):
Eventually the heat and no morning nap seemed to get to Alex and he was happy to sit in his stroller:
Wade spent the day roofing his shed and finishing our front steps. He worked all day, but everything is done (except for me painting the shed)!
We ended the day by grilling kabobs and making s’mores. It turns out our second story balcony is the perfect place to see the Wauwatosa fireworks.
Loving on every blanket he could find during the drive from Paducah to Milwaukee.
Today was a typical crazy day in Paducah. Aunt Lissy got up with Alex and I got an extra 30 minutes to sleep:
Then we all got up for Waffle House. Alex had his first meal at Waffle House and loved the waffle (no syrup) and bacon:
We spent the afternoon at Granny and Papa’s. Judy and Jerry had brought some of Wade’s old toys and Alex had a blast:
Then it was on the road for our trip to Milwaukee. Alex took a great two hour nap (and I did too):
Learning to drink from the hose.
Helping Gram water her flowers.
Wade and I spent the morning around the house finishing up a few last minute things. We have raspberries growing in the backyard so I picked a bowl for our drive to Chicago:
The hour flight was only slightly delayed and we were back in Paducah. Alex didn’t seem too concerned that we had been gone for a week. We loaded him up to visit Wade’s parents, grandparents, and sister. Granny was only too happy to snuggle while Alex had his milk:

The easiest way to know if I am involved in a current project is to look in the refrigerator. This is what you will see:
We finished the day by hanging the newly stripped and painted door to the garage:
Wade’s shed is almost done. It is just lacking half of the shingles and a door:
I also managed to get all the windows washed, get a haircut, and a pedicure. I’m going to call the week of projects a success.
