Alex is sleeping in on this trip and we are appreciating it! Today he got us moving around 7:30. Krista made pancakes and we wished her a happy birthday before leaving for Greenville:
We made a quick stop at the outlets in Gaffney, SC, and a SunDrop pickup:
Next was lunch in Greenville at Sticky Fingers with Uncle John and Aunt Louise. This was the first time they had met Alex:
Second on our Greenville list was ice cream with our old Catalyst friends at John and Shelley’s:
Alex surprised me by falling asleep in Mandy’s arms. We tried to convince her to come with us on the rest of the trip, but she couldn’t miss Clemson football.
Then we were back on the road for the drive to Atlanta. We arrived in time for a trip to the GaTech bookstore before a group dinner at Fellini’s. Then we returned to the hotel for some quality time in front of the Wii.
Strolling at the Biltmore.
Alex woke us up around 8 am and we got packed up and on the road. On a side note, you know you are in The South when you see a Chick-fil-A and a Waffle House on the same road sign:
The first stop of today was the Biltmore in Asheville, NC.
After a tour of the house we explored the gardens:
Then it was back into the car for the drive to Mooresville, NC to visit Krista. We went to dinner with Krista’s sister-in-law, Kristin, and her family.
And because no night is really complete without ice cream, we made a stop at Cold Stone Creamery before going home and baking cookies.
On a week-long road trip. So far, so good.
A week’s worth of vacation starts today. We have loaded the car and are headed out of town – for a week on the road. (If you look close you can see Alex in the picture below.)
We are heading to Atlanta and seeing everyone we can think of between here and there. Below is our planned route for the week:
Alex did really well during today’s seven hour drive:
Our first stop was at The Cheesecake Factory in Louisville, KY to have dinner/dessert with Edie. It was great to see an old friend – the last time being her wedding.
Edie took a few pictures too. I loved this one:
Now on to Lexington, KY for the night.
We are leaving on our week long road trip tomorrow. Wade and I have been debating whether to switch Alex to his new car seat before the trip. We decided to give it a test run and see how he did:
Alex is constantly fascinated by Madison and is always trying to touch or talk to her. Madison and of course all his toys too:
Alex is out of the infant car seat and into a big one.
