Me vs. A Bottle of Water

I woke up this morning to snow. I came 7 hours south and am still getting the winter weather. Melissa was leaving early to make her drive south so I said good-bye after breakfast.

I went to church and lunch with Dad, Laura, and Sonya and then started my drive north. I was worried that southern Illinois might have bad roads (especially after my last median encounter), but the roads were fine. Halfway home I stopped for a bottle of water and a snack. I ate my chcolate cupcake and then went to open the bottle of water. It wouldn’t open. I tried till my hand was raw. Then I beat it against the steering wheel and tried some more. I used my shirt for added grip. At this point I was very thirsty but refused to stop a second time. I got out the leatherman I keep in my car and proceeded to use the knife to saw the cap in half. It took me a good 30 minutes or so with all of my attempts, but I finally got to drink my bottle of water. Geez.

  1. Holly, you crack me up!
I think I would’ve just pulled over and bought another.
You remind me of Melilla’s persistence when we gave her medicine. (Read her blog about it if you haven’t already)
Glad to hear you made it home safely after a 30 minute fight with the water bottle!

  2. My general rule while traveling is I only stop for gas. Not to mention I hadn’t seen Wade in a week and was anxious to get home. Did I mention I am also stubborn?
