Holly / Toadfrogs

A Time of Sadness

I got some bad news. A good friend of mine from Washington DC, Matt Hodges died last night. He evidently collapsed while playing flag football and died shortly thereafter at the hospital (the cause of death was HCM – a congenital heart defect). His wife, Kourtnee, was with him. Matt was one of the first people I met at the Patent Office and he was a good friend from there on out. He helped me learn the ropes at the PTO, taught me to swing dance, and was always up for any crazy activity (skeet shooting, dinner with strangers, visits with family, etc). I am still in shock after receiving the news.

  1. Holly, I am so sorry to hear of that. I know how much you enjoyed his friendship. You and his family are in my prayers.

  2. Holly, horrible, tragic news! I’m so sorry this has happened. I recall many conversations about Matt and how much you enjoyed spending time with him, etc. You must be devastated. I will keep you in my prayers.

  3. I am so sorry, Holly. I know he was a special friend. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

  4. Oh my goodness; I am just stunned. So sorry to hear about that. I remember meeting Matt in DC and I can see why you treasured his friendship so much. You and his family are in my thoughts.
    Love,
    Johnna
